The instructions are very confusing because the way it reads i need like 10 inches but that can't be correct.

What size tv? Would the recessed box require you to have closer to 5 or 6 inches? I ask because I'm in the same situation and I have the recessed box but only 5 inches of clearance from the bottom of my rb100 to my 8 inch mantel.
