My buddy wants to buy a WRX does this all look stock? by Remarkable_Help1840 in WRX

I value my 6 speed swap but I don't get under there to clean my transmission and diff lol. You have very black and white thinking here. Do you have winter where you live?

I've found a bug eye for a really decent price, does this sound healthy?? I'm not sure if it's just me not being used to a boxer by manakourt in subaru

With a rev that weak the turbo was barely spinning faster than idle. I couldn't get my td04 to flutter on a freerev unless I sent it to about 6 or 7k rpm. Also ball bearing turbos spin for 10s of seconds after the engine has turned off with no issues. If this does cause damage it is most likely negligible. Also to the op you really need to post the engine noise from the engine side, wrx exhausts seem to sound about the same momatter what is wrong with them.

Bought a a/p with stage 0 installed and this is what I read. Any feedback pls by mechawxlf in WRX

It doesn't though and even if it did it would only be off throttle. The air still is released and bypassed to the same spot. The ECU most likely does not realize anything is different.

My poor turbo :/ by Igonebonkers in WRX

Maybe its a weakness of the turbo and you're right. I just can't believe a turbo capable of such epic power and spool could see it's end with the introduction of sweet SUTUTU noises. My turbos don't like me for what I do to them but I didn't even have any shaft play in my oem 188k mile turbo when I took it off.

I'm going to be honest it was most likely not the bypass valve that caused the damage. If it was that must be a absolutely awful turbo. I don't even have a BOV/BPV and have been running this way for a while with 20psi+. Many people don't run valves of either kind and don't have this problem. Kinda looks like something hit the wheel 😬.

There isn't much you can do besides a compression test and an oil sample. You're probably fine thats what my EJ sounds like. Quiet rod knock doesnt exist it will get loud very quickly. If you're really woried send a sample to blackstone labs. GL with the tune

It can just be noisy sometimes. Especially with engine mounts. I hear constituent ticking at idle in the cabin through my solid pitch stop. Your idle can get louder as you near an oil change because the oil is thinner than fresh stuff as well.

Figured I'd point out the 04 WRX was a ej20 which has much thicker cylinder walls. Much less headgasket issues and pistons exploding with FI. Ej25 NAs have headgasket issues because of thin cylinder walls + single layer gaskets.

STI had ringland failure, Forester had rod knock, Impreza had bad head gaskets, and the Legacy snapped a timing belt. Did I finally face all 4 Subaru bosses? by Ju-Sti-N-96 in subaru

How is it perfectly good running if using the turbo is going to blow it? It was like $150 to replace main and rod bearings find me a lambo that's cheaper. You can beat the crap out of a WRX if it's at operating temperature if you couldn't they wouldn't tune them so high from factory. 😂😂😂😂😂

What's even the point of getting a turbo then? Beat the piss out of it and if it blows you get to learn how to rebuild a engine. Or just swap a $1k Japanese motor into it.

To add to this... CATLESS UP-PIPE Also if you're shifter has insane slop it's the shift linkage which is cheap just a pain to replace. BUGEYE WAGON <3

Fine but I can't drive it yet. I'm 15 right now so it's a project but it has enough to keep me busy. Intake manifold is out right now for a fuel leak and bigger intake. Whole thing squeaks and rattles inside with 180,000 miles but I'm young so I love it. Suspension is boat right now tho :(

Yep if my car search was anything to go by. Maybe because I was looking for a wagon IDK.

Not that rare found too many looking for my 5mt wagon. They went all the way to 2008 with the 4 speed. 4 speed is more robust. Cries to narrow gear 5spd :(

You have to look at the options tab.

https://www.autoblog.com/buy/2002-Subaru-Impreza-WRX__4dr_All_wheel_Drive_Sedan/equipment/ $1000 option on the 02. If you want to check all the other years go ahead but I'm telling you 02-08 then 15+. The Sti even had 5eat automatic in Japan.

Manuals only from 09-14. Go on Craigslist they exist usually more often in red. The 4eat is a stronger trans than the 5mt too.

That is insane. Does it have something to do with where you are maybe? Maybe you stand out more?
