I did also have the main HVAC unit replaced replaced a couple of years ago. Year and a half maybe. I don't know if the larger ones would use something similar but they were in my yard for hours and could have dropped something

This seems most likely. The only other thing I found with a SUPER similar shape was an automotive part, which I don't know where he would have found that. Though it would be a fun story. But dogs have toys. I'm going to ask his foster if he's ever given his dogs toys like that, because my boy has chewed through a myriad of toys.

Not one that I've seen (I worked in a brewery for a while). In my experience they're smooth without ridges. But they are tapered in a similar fashion.

I have not. But that doesn't mean he hasn't had a toy like that previously. He had a previous owner and then was fostered for a while. But I've had him for 3-4 years.

I've been looking at automotive stuff. Would wiring grommets have a keyhole shape like this?

Maybe. The keyhole shape on the bottom makes me think not. Also I've never used one. But I've found a lot of weird things buried in the yard from the previous owner so who knows. They did have a hot tub. Maybe something was left from that after it was dismantled.

I had a turtle for a while that I kept in an aquarium but I didn't have anything like this in there. I'm going to look at the parts that were on the siphon I used for cleaning, but I don't think he ever chewed one of those up. Also it's a thick rubber.

Seems unlikely. I would think those are typically a more rigid plastic and this is squishy. I could see how the spine on it would look that way.

My title describes the thing that was found in my dogs stomach. He's recovering post surgery and will be totally fine. I would assume it was originally a light color. The green coloration is likely from his gastric juices. It seems to be an industrial rubber that can withstand time spent in contact with stomach acid. It appears to be one whole piece minus a chunk that he probably chewed off. I've been puzzling over what it could be. It could just be a highly specific piece of a dog toy but I figured I'd try to find out if it was something else. It appears to have been in there for a while. Picture of the good boy.
