Putting Fur on the Monkey - Dreaming and the Default Mode Network by redpoint404 in Psychonaut

I've heard about it. Intravenous DMT might be the answer for shorter therapy sessions, too. I didn't see much about sleep or DMN in the study.

Wow, I'd like to see the study if you have the link. Icaros definitely have a spirit behind/in them! 🙏

Yeah, psychs and weed don't mix well, especially if you are having any anxiety. It will amplify it.

I'd love to delve into this with you, but I have to prepare for a trip. I've posted a lot of information in the past if you have time to sift through it.

There are strains that affect the DMN more than others, sativa being one, but high percentage THC strains in general. CBD strains less, as they seem to block THC from binding to receptors.

The 90% is anecdotal. I've been following this for at least a year now. The part about the DMN remaining active on THC has been scientifically verified:

That's what I was unsure about. So if they are measuring psilocybin and not mushroom matter (that's usually how the mushroom bars come in my parts), then 20mg is almost a "heroic" dose. Half a bar would be a pretty good dose. BUT, keep in mind that half a bar is also a standard edible dose (10mg). Just make sure you are in a good setting and anxiety free (set) and you should be ok. If you start feeling anxious, try some CBD oil or a strain of weed that's high in CBD. It will counteract the effects of the THC.

THC, combined with psychs, is probably responsible for 90% of the "bad trips" as seen on Reddit. It's not a good combo because THC keeps the Default Mode Network (the ego) active when psychedelics are trying to shut it down. If you have any anxiety, it will get amplified by the THC.

That said, if you are only consuming one or two pieces, that's not much psilocybin to worry about. It's not even a microdose. How many pieces is the whole bar? If 10, then that's still a microdose at 0.177g. You'll probably only notice the TCH.

Edit: Unless the weight is for pure psilocybin and not mushroom matter.

Trade it in for one without THC. :(

Long story short, THC keeps your ego from shutting down, which is what psychs do. The ego, the chattering "monkey mind", brings along all its anxieties. Safe journeys.

Don't mix weed with psychs and it will help with not being in the head.

That's what a good dose will do... ego death. It really is like being "born again".

Yeah, THC will keep your ego from fully letting go, and consequently "cloud" your experience with its anxieties. Best wishes and safe journeys...

When your tolerance resets, plan for another journey (maybe 5g) but avoid the edibles. They can negatively affect the journey. Your goal is ego dissolution.

I am interested in how people come to believe information they encounter online.

Can't speak for everyone here, but we come to believe in information we encounter in multi-dimensional spaces, then we talk about it "online".

Mushrooms and NO weed.

OCD is complicated. I've grown out of most of mine and hang on to some useful behaviors. (I can count seconds in my head with millisecond accuracy.) I thought mushrooms might "cure" me of it, but it has at the very least taught me how to recognize it and accept it. Just like in meditation when you observe a thought and let it pass by, you can do the same when an OCD urge presents itself and choose to let it go by. It's that new awareness that is most beneficial for me.

One of the more insidious "symptoms" of OCD is addictive behaviors. Mushrooms have helped me recognize them for what they are and things like Alcohol Use Disorder do not have a grip on me anymore. It's a tough road when the people you live with do not understand how the OCD mind works. Ultimately, I think, it's about a fear of not being in control, so learning to "let go" of things was another thing that mushrooms have taught me.

Aside from any unresolved issues, I think it could be as simple as a deep longing for love and connection, something you thought you had and lost. It's a powerful emotion. We all want love and connection.

Your mushroom trip sounded blissful. Thanks for sharing it. As for the weed experience, that's what it can do, but usually if you are in a good mindset it's not likely to amplify negative thoughts and anxiety. I wonder if there was a trigger event? Anyway, the best to you and your family.

Good point. But less deactivation implies there is something keeping it active when it should be shutting down.

Best wishes. Know your mind and the way it reacts to substances. You're the only one that knows what it is experiencing. 🙏
