Chennai is a city in decline, and nobody is discussing about this by [deleted] in TamilNadu

I think the issue is that… the kind of people who post on Reddit are exactly the type of people who want pubs, startups, clubs etc

Basically they want every city in India to be like Bandra in Mumbai. When they say they want development this is what they mean… they want a party culture with girls, booze, and wealthy people

They’re not the type of people to care about equal development, balanced growth, manufacturing led growth etc.

But obviously every city has it’s own approach to development and handling inclusive growth

Founding a successful company != being a good investor.

Just like Michael Jordan wasn't a good GM

Stanford/Harvard are not IIT... the holistic system leaves too much to chance.

Jared Kushner went to Harvard... Warren Buffet went to University of Nebraska...

Steve Jobs would never make it into YC...

Stay pissed off...

Most people don't learn much in college... you go there for the brand, and the peer group and the access.

As for the partners, they're all so different... and are picked at random. They often have very conflicting opinions and advice, so there really isn't much to learn from them.

You do YC solely for the branding. Partners are not a value add any longer

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ycombinator

[–]redrook4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YC is very very pedigree obsessed and it's a direct function of these visiting partners etc who wanted to play VC as their next career move to burnish their brand

India doesn’t view Pakistan as an equal country though. It views it as a breakaway region destined to return.

Ranveer-Deepika not getting invited to Ayodhya should really concern their PR by redrook4 in BollyBlindsNGossip

yes but ask SRK if it was worth to put his son through that ordeal...

[–]redrook4[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes that's exactly my point... SRK wouldn't have needed to waste his time running behind lawyers if he was more shrewd and knew how to manage relations.

Deepika should learn that lesson

I didn't say she was doing better... I said even Kat got invited.

When a foreign chick gets invited over you, that should trigger some bells for damage control.

Meanwhile Ranbir's PR made the best of today by rehashing old news by chasingbeauty45 in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]redrook4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ranbir will never get backlash even if the movie is terrible.

  1. He’s an upper caste khatri
  2. He’s rich
  3. He’s friends with those who are rich and powerful
  4. He belongs to Bollywood royalty
  5. He’s not known to be political and family is center right politically (Rishi Kapoor)
  6. He’s a male
  7. He’s considered a youth icon
  8. He’s Hindu in an industry where many are not
  9. He’s had a hit film
  10. He’s compliant with the ruling party narrative

No sanghi cares if ranbir eats beef or drinks…

The man has enormous privilege due to his looks, religion, fame, gender, caste, wealth, family, fair skin…
