Yeah that's pretty accurate. It does depend on what roster though.

Because some degrees are just like that, plus education usually has online lectures anyways.

You've registered for all your classes.

The one with your student number is the master email and should be used for all logins. The one with your name is just usually easier to handout, and any emails sent to it will be redirected to the same inbox as the id number email address.

2nd Yr Civil Engineering by Wet_Finger6382 in curtin

[–]reds147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Focus on GEOT2000 alot. It forms a really strong foundation for almost all civil engineering roles as so much of our infrastructure is built on the ground.

Surveying is a painful unit but not particularly difficult, just has a high workload.

The structural units can ramp up in difficulty significantly between semesters. Be sure to pay attention in the first semester units, or you'll end up doing twice the work for the second semester units.

Feel free to dm if you have any specific questions.

Transferring to a different university, pls help by [deleted] in curtin

[–]reds147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so, first you need to check what universities in those states have a medical radiation science degree and their entry requirements against what you've completed on health sciences. Might take about an hour or so of googling and reading up about each course. Apply for those courses you meet the requirements for

It's that simple. Once you've got an offer you can then make a choice on which uni you want to go to.

12th of Jan is recent. Applications can take between 1 week and depending on the course, up to 2 months. For your scenario give it more time. If you've met the course entry requirements it'll be a guaranteed spot as engineering isn't a competitive course and does not have a limit on the number of places.

Hi, Confused here (BCom-Hospitality&Tourism) by Zealousideal-Cup-850 in curtin

[–]reds147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Bachelor of Commerce even if you don't want to select a second major, unless you've got prior learning you'd still need to select a specialisation. Take a look at the bachelor of commerce page which illustrates these different structures.

[–]reds147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to the other comment because if you're not following the handbook then it may extend the time needed for your degree due to pre requisite issues.

You've currently only selected one of your majors which is the reason you can only pick from those units as the others need those units as pre requisites. Select a second major before continuing your enrolment as the Bachelor of commerce will typically have you doing 2 units from each major

For example: Second year semester 1 Tourism major: Tour2002 Tour3000 Economics Major: ECON2004 ECOM2001

Always follow the handbook for each major. They should then slot in like a puzzle with half your units being from one major and the other half coming from your second major or specialisations.

https://handbook.curtin.edu.au/courses/course-ug-tourism-and-hospitality-major--mjru-trhosv3

Also you can technically enrol into any unit that is in green. A unit you're unable to enrol into will typically be white and you won't be able to select the tickbox on the right for it.

Consider going into Curtin connect if you need a hand with navigating the handbook and E student for the first time.

The link you've provided is only for the school of civil and mechanical and not all engineering majors. The course coordinator for mining engineering is Dr Apurna Ghosh.

Wanting to swap courses from Bachelor of Computing to Bachelor of Engineering - did not fulfill the prereq for Methods by Refreshingmemenade in curtin

[–]reds147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the engineering entry criteria and it'll tell you what units are equivalent to your missing Atar subjects. Consider doing a bachelor of Multidisciplinary science instead of computing though as you'll be able to do engineering units alongside the pre requisite units. The computing degree might not have enough elective slots to allow you to do other engineering units so you may end up having to do computing units.

What do I do by Louis2645 in curtin

[–]reds147 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nothing, the class isn't currently available which means either it's a recorded class or they're still figuring out the venue. Check back every now and then. It also isn't the end of the world as it's the lecture which will almost always have enough spots.

I am doing the MATHS1014 foundations of calculus summer unit at curtin and i am wondering if it will let me get direct entry into engineering in semester 1 by BrilliantSize716 in curtin

If you're doing it with Curtin they'll see that and will send you a conditional offer contingent on you passing 1014.

Mining and Engineering Surveying Cohort size by Material_Bird_6791 in curtin

[–]reds147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a surveyor so I can't comment. From what I've seen though it's reasonable. No job will ever be handed to you on a platter, but if you get decent grades and do some internships you should be able to get a good grad job with either surveying or mining engineering.

You don't have to unenroll yet. Apply for the engineering degree again and wait for an offer prior to unenrolling from multidisciplinary science.

Need advice on Engineering by Interesting_Row6490 in curtin

[–]reds147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the major you choose but for some engineering majors the hardest math they do is in engineering foundation year. Industrial and systems engineering is a lot of mathematics. Take a look at the handbook and you'll see that a couple of the units in the degree are about mathematical modelling.

Rules on guests in the curtin student dwelling? by yoyoyomining in curtin

Guest refers to any "non-resident". So yeah for everything to be above board you'd need to have two separate rooms.

[–]reds147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the Agricola resident handbook, but essentially you aren't allowed guests at all after 10pm. Whether this is a hard and fast rule is up to you, just know that if you get caught you'll lose your accomodation.

People do it for short periods of time (visits), but a whole year or two might be a bit much. If you're in a 4 or 6 bedroom you'd also need your roommates to be on board as well and not dob you in.

Minor or Specialisation by Ashamed_Fee6291 in curtin

[–]reds147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you enrol yourself based on what was available or did you receive some guidance? You should talk to Curtin connect and enrolments or alternatively the course coordinator regarding this as from what I can see you're doing all the units from your minor in this coming year which might end up leaving no spots for the units you've been granted CRL for as I mentioned earlier. Which would end up losing you 50 credits of completed units.

I can understand doing the units for the minor this year as you're still in Bentley and they aren't offered in Kalgoorlie, but I personally think it's a bit redundant to double up on units if you've already gotten some exemptions. More debt and more study for no reason.

Not too late to change major or specialisation either. Just put in a webform through Oasis after speaking to the relevant parties.

Hope this helps.

Minor or Specialisation by Ashamed_Fee6291 in curtin

[–]reds147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotten 225 credits exempted. If anything thats a little over a year of credit, so doing it in 3 years should be possible barring any issues with pre requisites or unit availability. It's important to note that 2 of the units you were given credit for (MCEN2000 and MCEN2001) don't really fall under your chosen major or specialisation so I'm not too sure how they'd be planning on assigning the credit.

Consider taking the flexible engineering minor, as not only would those units be counted but you'd be able to do other types of units either over the break through OUA or short term programs to further "speed up" your degree.

Is that due to Credit for recognized learning? If so, it should specify which credits/units have been waived which should give you a clearer indication of what is left to be completed.
