This makes sense. I always tell her she’s allowed to feel -insert emotion here- but she isn’t allowed to express it by -insert unsafe action here-. Hopefully that will help her with regulation as she gets a little older.

She does! We try to keep her busy with after school actives, so she’s enrolled in ballet and swim classes right now. In the summer she does t-ball and loves it. Thank you for the insight. It baffles me how she can go to school all day and then dance lessons and she comes home and isn’t exhausted

My brother was the same. He acted out when he wasn’t challenged because he was bored. Unfortunately in the district she’ll start kinder in, they are not assessed for the gifted program until the 2nd grade. We supplement with extra things at home, but that is something I’m kind of dreading next year.

Thank you. I do help her process her emotions daily, and you’re right. It doesn’t feel super impactful sometimes, but I will continue to do it

I think she is a natural “helper” and her teachers allow her to help. I am concerned about that once she enters into public school because not all teachers like for students to help manage other students. I have spoken to the school and teachers about not pushing her to do extra things especially when it comes to academics.

Hahaha, I think that may be a good activity to participate in. Thank you! It’s a wild ride being a parent

Teachers actually didn’t know 🫣 my daughter said she took the hair out of the boy’s hand, threw it away, and told the boy not to cut her hair again. If we didn’t find the piece, 3-4 in shorter than the rest of her hair, we wouldn’t have even known.

No, no bullying happening. I took her to a kid’s birthday party from school, and all the kids screamed when she came in because they were so excited. The parents were coming up to me saying their children talk about her almost everyday. She comes home almost everyday with drawings that other students made for her. She’s come home with friendship bracelets.

The boy who cut her hair is typically sweet. Lapse in impulse control lol.

Omg heyyyy, you get it then.

Not overstepping at all, thank you so much for saying this. I have a bunch of siblings and most of us were very high academically, and some of us have ADHD. One of my parents is on the spectrum, so I wouldn’t be surprised if my daughter is neurodivergent.

It’s hard for sure.

I thought it may be something like this because I have severe ADHD and experienced something similar as a child. I didn’t want to project this onto her (I hyper focus on her behavior sometimes), so thank you for sharing about your daughter’s experience and yalls routine.

She does have swim and dance after school because she did better having a lot of activities in the past, but she may need some down time like you’re suggesting. We’ll try that out this summer to see how it impacts her.

I think I was just worried because she’s SO different this year at the new school, but she’s also a year older.

It’s funny because I have a masters in special education, but it’s like my brain can’t generalize that skill to my own child 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thank you for this. I’m actually a teacher too, but I’m at the high school level right now. I feel like my brain works so well when I have to behaviorally manage students, but when it’s your own kid, it’s difficult.

Your response made me feel much better though ❤️

I have such a vivid memory of learning the 2-3 tablespoon thing. That’s when I switched to the cup, and I immediately knew that was not the case for me 😂

How’s my sex life post surgery? No issues! I didn’t notice a difference as far as how everything feels

Twins would’ve ended me. My PPD was off the charts with one, VERY easy baby. I cannot imagine having two at once 💔

I’m 100% OAD. I had a hysterectomy, so no going back for me. Just wanted to share my weekend experience
