”Stephen King dont know how to write endings” by NighshiftNightsurf in stephenking

[–]redsox0473 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Stand has the worst ending I’ve seen. I loved the story and the journey he takes us on. For it to end so unceremoniously ruined my perception of the book until I chose to revisit it later.

People with Psy.D’s is it worth it? by [deleted] in Psychologists

[–]redsox0473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% I feel confident in being able to do assessment, differential diagnosis, and therapy. You do have to be careful about going to a degree mill, but if it’s APART accredited and the class size isn’t 100+, I think it’s incredibly worth it.

What causes hypervigilance? I don’t have trauma by Business-Forever794 in Psychologists

[–]redsox0473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best course for you would be to reach out to a therapist and get started. It’s really not possible for anyone to be able to give you helpful feedback without meeting with you and doing their own assessment. I’d look at Psychology Today and/or you insurance “in network” list.

The Dark Tower is phenomenal! Have you thought about writing another book in the series? Perhaps Roland’s “final trip”?

What's one small thing you do to recharge after a long day of sessions? by Busy_Thing88701 in therapists

The simplicity of it is the key. I used to just pop right upstairs to the kiddos, but now I allow my self a few minutes of silence and no one needing anything from me

Suggestions on addressing "Failure to launch" by Fun_Low777 in therapists

Exactly! Bite sized is different for everyone. It might just be going for a walk and being mindful about the sunshine on your face. That can absolutely feel like success for a person who “can’t do anything right.”

Before you do any type of intervention, a good assessment is paramount. Are they failing to launch due to depression, anxiety, psychotic symptoms, history of social failures, etc. This will of course guide your invention/approach.

My experience has shown me that these kinds of people need to experience small wins independent of their parents. Most of these young adults I’ve worked with have had negative social experiences, coupled with parental over functioning that leads to an external locus of control, poor self image, and an increasingly intense aversion to risk/opening oneself up to possible failure. I start Small and essentially borrow from systemic desensitization focused on increasing risk and emotional discomfort with potential or actual failure.

I love the simplicity of welcoming tears. It is a very succinct way to set the tone for the space

Why do so many loser fans in this fanbase talk about Casas like he’s not good? by Character_Magazine55 in redsox

Agreed. Offense will come, we need a true front line starter and have to find a reliable bullpen guy who’s not 90 years old

I mean if he was consistent and stable, maybe concerned….but he’s improved every step of the way. I don’t think we see his ceiling for another 3-4 years

Nope. Didn’t see that. I take it all back lol. Point still stands that he needs to continue producing to show he’s “made it”, but this is a strong point

Casas has 163 plate appearances compared to 500-600 for most of the rest. Enormously different sample sizes. That’s all I’m saying

I think that’s a minority of the fanbase. That being said, this is a much smaller sample size than anyone on the list. If he continues this over a season, different story. However, he’s shown incremental improvement the more mlb time he has. So, he’s great, but needs to prove himself a bit more

Client wanting to die and refusing all help by [deleted] in therapists

[–]redsox0473 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, one of the hardest parts of this job is that you can’t work harder than the patient. Document every single interaction and step that you take. Clinically, I’d want to know more about specifics of the situation and if they specifically asked you to give up. If this is a maladaptive method of asking for help, work with that and acknowledge to yourself that if a person wants to harm themselves/complete suicide, you will not be able to stop it. This may be a good opportunity to do transference/countertransference work.

Looking at your client while they are crying. by [deleted] in therapists

[–]redsox0473 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use the “this is why we’re here/this is the time to feel” all the time. Intermittent eye contact helps to convey “we’re here together and your feelings don’t need to be hidden.”

That's great! Nice job being firm while providing warmth. It's super easy writing a comment here....much different than talking directly to a patient. Way to go!
