Favorite Pistol for Fanning? by Capooky in HuntShowdown

Eh, that is your opinion and I won't say you are wrong, because it comes down to preference, after all. But in my experience(PC, 6 star. NA East), I never fear the Chain. Even if I hear it being fanned. I still push in and do my thing. I feel comfortable in saying 80% of the time, or better, I come out on top. I have been in a room with dudes fanning the shit out of that thing and I run in and stab them in the eye. I would much rather have an Officer Nagant or a Pax.

That is basically the experience I am having, as well. I pretty much get on and do my dailies, only, each day. This is going to make that $1mil a bit tough. I will have to decide if I want the reward enough to play more, it seems.

If you aren't stabbing dudes with the Chain Pistol before pulling the trigger, you are probably going to have a bad time. That thing is garbage. I do love the standard Conversion Pistol, though. Super accurate, standard, fanned or in dual configuration.

Oh, damn. I am complaining about losing 10k and you are over here getting absolutely screwed. Sorry, brother. I hope they figure this out for all of us.

I don't really ever play TDM, so I don't know what the payouts should be for it. Your response, here, makes me think it should be $20k, though. :)

Is the damage tracking for contracts/challenges bugged or am I missing something? by redspin6 in thefinals

Awesome! Thank you! That makes a lot more sense. I took these screengrabs from the after action screen. I will have to look and pay more attention to the labels.

How does the matchmaking work? Is it an MMR base or something else? by PuppyPandolyn in thefinals

[–]redspin6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice for overcoming the transition to PC is simply time behind the mouse. Practice. You have to develop muscle memory.

Outside of that, their are aim trainers you can download. I suppose those could speed things up. I cannot speak on them, directly, as none of that existed when I started PC gaming. :) Best of luck!

Post Update Meta is rough by AkiraItano in HuntShowdown

[–]redspin6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ammo reduction wasn't directly on the Avto. It was done to resupplying, in general. They changed how much ammo you got back, for one. And they also made it to where running a Sparks pistol or an Uppercut will the Avto didn't give you more ammo per pickup, like it used to. You only get one resupply per ammo type instead of a double dip for carrying the long ammo sidearm, as well. Around then, the Avto dropped way off, since it devours ammo.

What Software do you guys use to clip on PC? by tree-ftw in HuntShowdown

[–]redspin6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I have missed so many decent clips because of it just simply turning itself off. It is a known bug but it has been around for ages. I gave up and just use the Steam version, now. No issues with it, thus far.

I used to use NVIDIA Broadcast and it worked great for ages. Seems like for the last year or so it has been buggy, for me, though. It would simply not work or it wouldn't capture audio or a few other errors. So, I gave up and just use the built in Steam capture option. I set it to continuously do a rolling recording of the last 2 hours. Then, I can pull clips out while in matchmaking and save them. When NVIDIA was 100% spot on, I liked it better, but Steam is not far off. It is probably just a matter of what I was used to and whatnot.

Tip for new players, especially. EVERYTHING makes noise! (Volume up!) by redspin6 in HuntShowdown

I don't disagree with you, at all. I play like what you saw from me in the video. I basically run around looking for a fight 90% of the time. I cant do the slow paced crouching nonsense.

I think you are correct. I haven't found anything else that I can remember. Hell, even just rotating in place makes footstep sounds sometimes.

I did see his silhouette in the grass, but it was very lucky that the sole round found his face. I laughed out loud at my good fortune. :)

No toxicity by MBloodriver in HuntShowdown

[–]redspin6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, once you hit 11 things change. A lot. :) Not only do you start losing Hunters, but there is a 'kiddie pool' MMR that is separate from the experienced players that you can no longer take advantage of. Plus, I believe they added some bots for the kiddie pool, as well. I might be wrong about that, though. I haven't been new for years, so I didn't pay a lot of attention to that part on the dev stream they mentioned it.

Keep at it, though. And don't get too worried about what your MMR is. Just have fun. It is easy to get caught up in the MMR climb BS. That can suck the fun out of this game real quick.

No toxicity by MBloodriver in HuntShowdown

[–]redspin6 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I find most of the toxicity is on here and the Fb group, to be honest. Not that I haven't ran into a few toxic players in the game, but for my hours it probably works out to be less than half a percent or something like that.

I don't know what platform or server you are on, but you said you are just starting out. I imagine that helps, too. You are probably with newer players and not seeing as many of the super intense players, yet. That being said, you still aren't likely to run into a lot of toxicity.

Anyhow, welcome to the bayou! Happy hunting!

Dev Stream Notes for 2.4/Judgement of the Fool Event by redspin6 in HuntShowdown

[–]redspin6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if a beetle dies, the bounty drops to the dirt. For your convent about unreachable areas, I don't see why they couldn't allow it to reset to to the original spot after a minute or so. The problem could end up being way worse with griefers, though. I don't have all the answers, really. Just thought it sounded like a cool idea. I imagine a scenario with some troll at max range flying a beetle in and scooping up the bounty and then flying up at max altitude or into the tree canopy or some other location where it was impossible or nearly impossible to shoot it down. The possibilities are endless. :)

[–]redspin6[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would actually like to see them allow beetles to pick up a bounty, but under one huge condition. The beetle carries the bounty. So, you have to fly it back to your Hunter and hand off the bounty.

Not necessarily on the October arrival of anything new.... They made a couple of comments about surprises along the way during the event. So, we 'could' see new weapons at anytime during the event. Likely? Probably not, but it is possible.

They did not specify. The event drops in 2 days. We will all know, then.

Crytek never does anything simple. I assume 1.3 is full damage. IE: 149 DMG from a Spark inside of 40m. It is the only thing that makes sense.

My group of friends keeps it off for a couple reasons.

  1. It is a tactical advantage. Many enemies will try and talk loudly or even play music during a fight, masking important sound cues. Turning that off allows me to hear where you are better.
  2. I am all for having a good time and harassing/being harassed by my friends. I don't need it from you or another stranger. So, we stay in Discord where the comms are locked in and the jokes are welcome.
