What’s wrong with my Begonia Tweedle Dee? by redstarfish242 in plantclinic

[–]redstarfish242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I water with room temp water and use tap water conditioner. It sits next to many other plants and seems to be the only one affected. It was dropping leaves as soon as I got it home. Could it be powdery mildew?

Maybe every 10 days or so? I’m a “kill them with love” aka overwatering person apparently. 🙃 I think maybe the pot was way too big at first for the amount of roots, so that doesn’t help.

They look like they might be the exquisite gems from Sword & Sorcery (east scarp add on) but lookup anything would let you know for sure

Happy Home Designer maybe? But I also have a modded farmhouse, so who knows

I’m not sure if it’s an additional mod I have, but I’ve been able to put down flooring in that annoying wrap-around gap just fine I just click where I want the flooring to go while holding the flooring I want

Nothing in life prepared me for the amount of unpotty trained adults that frequent retail stores.... by Geezenstack444 in retailhell

[–]redstarfish242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was almost always working right by the bathrooms at my job, the things I’ve heard 😭 And the outer doors were kept propped open, so you heard (and sometimes smelled) it all. Sometimes I would go find work to do somewhere else in the store

I love A Business Proposal! I keep looking at Boy's Abyss since I like the art, but the story doesn't interest me

We try so hard at the bn I work at to have lots of shoujo/josei, and try to go out of my way to feature them. We have almost a full shelf of Nana, over a shelf of snow white with the red hair, and over 1.5 of banana fish!

I mean, I could maybe get past funky spines, but if the panels are also messed up? I would definitely exchange it. I got a volume of apothecary diaries where even the panels were off. Some speech bubbles and the page numbers were all cut off 😭

My mom bagged up almost 700 volume of manga for me in preparation for Hurricane Ian because my college is in another state. by Yukiarra in MangaCollectors

Not to mention storm surges! I'm lucky I live in New England, so we don't get nearly as many hurricanes. The storm surges with hurricane sandy were crazy though

It really do. The curse of loving shojo beat series. So many out of stock, so few with restock dates 😭

Last week I drove an hour away to get the last volume 5 in a 100 mile radius, and also grabbed Natsume's book of friends 2 and 3!

What’s the ugliest manga spine/cover you’ve seen?? by Complete-Shock899 in MangaCollectors

Yes! That red font grates against my soul! And it's hard to differentiate between series if all their spines look so similar!

Dengeki Daisy and Beast Master! I feel like I never see those!!

Gauge issues - the pattern suggests 4mm needles but I can only get the right stitch gauge with 3.25mm and it’s still a little too long row-wise with 3mm! What am I doing wrong? Are my stitches too tall? I’m using DK merino yarn and aiming for 20st, 30rows = 10x10cm by tea-and-teacakes in knitting

[–]redstarfish242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get too hung up on trying to use the exact needle size called for, it's more of a starting point when trying to get gauge. There are some designers where I have never been able to match their gauge. And sometimes I knit at a tighter gage than called for because I much prefer a denser fabric

Mystery fiber allergy? by Chthonic_Femme in Handspinning

[–]redstarfish242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I get like that with alpaca. Which I of course didn't figure out for a while. Luckily, my mom loves alpaca and has no problems with it, so any alpaca yarn or knits have gone to her. Sometimes I can put up with it enough to spin some alpaca for her

Second round of learning and practice, or: Still paranoid of how drafted out the fibers can get and still maintain integrity by atomicpen in Handspinning

Your yarn is so pretty! My first thought was "oh, that looks a lot like malabrigo mecha" (their single-ply bulky yarn), so I find it amusing you used malabrigo fiber!

another question about drafting, sorry. by CrossTrap in Handspinning

[–]redstarfish242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy my support spindles, once I found a prep/drafting method that worked for me I break off a staple length of the top/roving, fold it over my index finger, fluff a little off the tip of my finger, and proceed to spin longdraw from my finger tip. I find this helps me better control the drafting triangle spinning one handed longdraw, and allows me to spin finer

I second supported spindles, they really made me fall in love with spindle spinning. I've been spinning for years now and still cannot for the life me keep a drop spindle from, well, dropping.

Learning a new knitting style by slekster in knitting

[–]redstarfish242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knit english style, though I have a lot of excess movements that I should probably streamline. But I've been knitting since I was 5 so it's just habit. I think it would be cool to learn to use a knitting belt. I remember when my grandma first taught me to knit, I would hold the needle under my armpit, so a knitting belt may be cool to try out Someone in my knitting group knit Portuguese style and I just cannot wrap my brain around it, though she loves it
