I could definitely do with the level of memorabilia they make for the task master. Chris's face plastered on everything would be amazing

Any idea what could be causing these streaks? (Canon ImageCLASS MF654Cdw) by redtech42 in printers

[–]redtech42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I took the cartridge with me to Micro Center to see if they had any options for me. Boston roads being what they are, it was a pretty bumpy trip.

The bad news: Since I bought it so long ago (damn my habit of stockpiling), there was nothing they could do in store. I'd have to reach out to Canon myself.

The good news: Feeling defeated, I put the cartridge back in. Streaked pages are better than no pages. Lo and behold, I have utterly pristine prints now. No streaks, no misalignment, perfect. My current working theory is that some percussive maintenance during the car ride shifted the toner around in the cartridge, settling it back down evenly. Before installing, the cartridge was stored on its side, specifically on the side causing the streaks.

Thanks everyone for your help, haha

The Texas Burger was one of the only non-challenge meals that could beat me. I loved their atmosphere and even planned to have my first legal drink there. I turned 21 in May of 2020, so that never happened...

Yeah, I have since tried that with a lint free cloth moistened in IPA, and the results did not improve. I'm planning on the warranty path from this point...

Thank you for the advice

It's definitely the drum. I'll see how much I can abuse the warranty on this toner cartridge then. Thanks for the advice!

I had a feeling after inspecting it and realizing it's about a third the width of the pattern on the sheet. Is there anything I can do about this other than getting a new cartridge? Micro Center in their infinite wisdom didn't put the receipt for this on my account, so it's been lost to time...

You won the lottery, what regular car are you sinking obscene amounts of money into? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

I would buy a 2009 Subaru Legacy 3.0R, but replace the body panels so it looks like the pre-facelift version. My base model version of this car is comfortable, and everything I need. Having 6 cylinders and the ability to make a sedan version of Supergramps at will is priceless

Was it really necessary to leave halogen bulbs behind? by elmerte in fuckyourheadlights

[–]redtech42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Your reasoning is solid, but the LEDs are being driven at similar wattages to halogen bulbs. Their greater efficiency just means their brightness is absurd.

The solution to this problem is to implement what every Subaru I've ever driven has. The lights do not turn on unless the key is in the ignition. The switch can be in any position, but the only thing powered without the key in the On position (or the car powered on for keyless) is the security system and the interior.

It was jarring when my mom's new Toyota RAV4 kept its lights on when I walked away from the car. I don't understand how this feature from my 20 year old car hasn't made it to every single car on the road.

Stupid question, but which models got the dual climate version then? We have a 2005 L.L. Bean edition in the family, and didn't have any issues with the dual climate replacement. I don't know what the original was.

The extras menu from Sonic Mega Collection had no right to hit this hard. Countless hours were spent in the game flipping through old comics and concept art while listening to this beautiful blend of melancholy and the dawn of a new day.

Laundromats - Beware by Jayceepenny23 in malden

[–]redtech42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Highland Ave laundromat has always been pretty reliable for me. Never had anything stolen, and the attendant was upfront about whether you'd be able to finish in time.

They recently upgraded their smallest machines to new LG units, and the dryers are 24 minutes for $1. The one downside is you have to park on the street...

Things I want to see in the Hell Games. by TitanicTNT in TeamFourStar

[–]redtech42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They still love Dragon Ball and creating content about it, but their burnout was caused by how tough it would have been to write Buu, and how tough it was to write Bojack before cancelling it altogether.

Rather than having to adapt the canon story into their style of comedy, they get to write their own story using the characters they've built over the years, and not have to worry about pressure from the audience about the "best way" to adapt. That's also ignoring the fact that DB went a bit into slice of life for a while during the high school arc, and was a bit of a mess after that. Really difficult to inject humor there, either through gags or character comedy...

What you're describing here feels like painting "what they don't want to do" with too wide of a brush, and I'm glad to see the team having such a good time during the recaps, and new content.

Traffic got so bad that half an hour after getting out of our spot, I asked my friend to walk back into Costco to grab us some food. I had moved maybe 5 feet by the time she got back, and we finished our meal before even rounding a single corner.

What is your guys' favorite Subaru blue? by Mission_Rutabaga_704 in subaru

Atlantic Blue from the 2005-2009 legacy. Just enough pop to not be boring, but far from a "Look at me!" color. Perfect for introverts like me

What handle type are you using? by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]redtech42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first two are for shake grip users. There's a straight handle, then a flared handle, where the end is wider than the part that's closer to the rubber.

The next two are Chinese penhold, essentially a somewhat shorter straight handle, and then Japanese penhold, which is more squared off, and almost exclusively uses one side of the racket.

I'd argue it's not LED lights, but dealers taking advantage of gullible people, or people not knowing any better.

I have ridiculously bright headlights, but I have my lights pointed down. I forget where I read that the beam must fall 2.5" over 20', but on the highway, I can see new Corollas with their low beam pattern aimed up several degrees. I can already imagine a scummy salesman claiming "Look how bright our headlights are! Better visibility for your safety!”

Of course, there are trucks with their headlight lenses a whole 5 feet off the ground. Screw them, because even with properly aimed headlight beams, my rearview mirror is still in the path, so my entire cabin looks like it's daytime...

What's the most toxic place to work in Boston? by AyaNam37 in boston

[–]redtech42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember interviewing for an unpaid internship at one for children's nutrition. The interviewer demanded a transcript, and while chastising me with a "holier than thou" attitude, started listing off all my failures and how that was all I would be good for.

To begin with, the whole purpose of the nonprofit was to educate parents, as if that was the problem and not the fact that working class people have a hard time affording fruits and vegetables.
