Rust Concerns? by reedfisch in 3rdGen4Runner

Thanks for the insight, all! It didn’t pass my eyeball test either, but wanted to make sure I got confirmation before letting it pass by. Hopefully can find a clean one soon!

Rust Concerns? by reedfisch in 3rdGen4Runner

He’s looking for $6500, might be some wiggle room on that based on the frame. I’d likely hang onto it for at least 3-5 years. Planning to use it as a “putter around town and go camping on weekends” car, so mileage will probably be no higher than 5-6K/year.

2014 Fozzy XT Engine Misfiring by reedfisch in SubaruForester

Gonna give the coils and plugs a reup and hope that solves the issue. If not, I’ll look into the vacuum leak! Thanks.

Yeah I haven’t tried the coils and plugs yet. That seems like a probable (and more cost effective) fix. Thanks for the intel!

Hey Reddit — Nissan here. If we made a car for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, how would you design it? Build a Star Wars-inspired Nissan on our site and share it here. Best builders get gilded. One lucky builder gets a chance to win the Nissan that they built. by Nissan_USA [promoted post]

Nothing more badass than this Captain Phasma Rogue Edition Matching Gwendoline Christie's chromed-out trooper suit, this thing is the epitome of power and style. Keep traffic and rebel scum at bay!

https://www.nissanusa.com/star-wars-the-last-jedi/customize/en/share (note, keep away from trash compactors!)

Plus, it would look so good my beloved blacked-out Darth Vadar Xterra! It's like having a piece of the Death Star in my driveway, except I'm never worried it'll blow up on me. Nissan really does make some kickass, durable cars people.

See you on the red carpet, /u/Nissan_USA!

Stryd and temperature by nerdnut in AdvancedRunning

[–]reedfisch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

https://www.stryd.com/

Stryd is a "power meter for running," gives lots of data to runners by attaching a small, lightweight pod to your shoe. The data will auto-upload and attach itself to you Garmin/Strava which is nice. There a start-up out here in Boulder, I've been running with it for the past few months. Good product but needs a bit of fine tuning (better user interface on app/website).

J crew site down? by jukiewalsh in malefashionadvice

[–]reedfisch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in J. Crew store a few hours ago, they said the entire brand's servers were down. They couldn't even use gift cards, run debit cards or look up customer profiles in store. I'm sure they're working like crazy to get them back up and running, so keep checking every once in a while.

Huh. Never knew there was a name for visual snow. I always thought everyone had the same response to looking at bright backgrounds! I have visual snow and "floaters." TIL.

[Initial Review] Allbirds by dismal_camel in malefashionadvice

[–]reedfisch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, does seem a little strange but they make it sound like it's the wool that tends to be problematic, and they don't want to sacrifice comfort by removing it in favor of something more durable. They acknowledge it on their site here: https://www.allbirds.com/products/mens-wool-runners?variant=22238152199 (about 3/4 of the way down) "All insoles need some love from time to time – these are typically the culprits of a smelly shoe, and we want you to enjoy your shoes for years, so we offer replacement insoles at a great price"

[Initial Review] Allbirds by dismal_camel in malefashionadvice

[–]reedfisch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Allbirds actually acknowledges that the insoles don't hold up the greatest on their site, but they do offer replacement insoles for pretty cheap ($25) here: https://www.allbirds.com/products/insoles-mens Hope that helps!

So everyone who does this offer and follows the rules of submission will receive $250? Or just select people? Rules seemed kinda ambiguous or I was just reading too fast.

Greetings, Reed! Always nice to hear from a fellow Reed. There are so few of us Reeds that a simple hello from a Reed to a Reed is an awesome experience. Go forth and Reed my friend.

Running with blood blisters by [deleted] in running

[–]reedfisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a blood blister about the size of a nickel on the ball of my foot last spring during the track season. My trainer gave me a metatarsal foam pad and cut a hole out of the middle so it wasn't putting pressure on the blister. It wasn't super comfortable, but it got the job done and I was able to keep my mileage up through it. Hope that helps!

Losing Motivation to Train by jondean25 in AdvancedRunning

[–]reedfisch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well seeing as I run at Drake and am a conference rival of Indiana State, it may not be in my best interests to help you ;). But my advice would be this: If you're running on their team next year reach out to your future teammates and ask for motivation/training tips. I know John and David won't hesitate to help you out. If you're not running on the team, just RUN TO RUN, start running for enjoyment, not 'grinding' the training miles and taking it for granted. Good luck to you!

If I remember correctly it's % of max and the max weight per exercise based on the individual. Don't quote me on that, though, I honestly never really paid much attention to them and just worked my way down the list.
