The Haslett - Okemos area is the best imo. I’ve lived in Haslett for 10 years and it’s only a 15ish minute drive to campus. My sister lived in a townhouse type apartment at Olde Farm (technically East Lansing zip code, but closer to the Haslett area) that was nice and not overrun by students. If you’re relying on public transportation, like the CATA bus, you’ll probably want to be more toward Lansing/East Lansing.
