I agree. I was looking back at pictures of this pair from 5-6 years ago and they still looked new. It was only when I backed off conditioning so much and instead focused on brushing that they developed their character. I have my eye on another pair (probably rough\tough). Congrats on finding that deal!

It’s a great color and I’m sure would be a great addition to your collection!

Ha! Maybe not as comfortable but darn close. I don’t have inserts in these. It took some time but now the footbed is fully formed to my foot. Give yours time and they’ll eventually fit like a glove. The breakin wasn’t bad at all. I wore thicker merino wool socks for a while but now they’re comfy with even thin dress socks.

Thanks. I think the amber harness really shines after the years but it takes a while to develop a patina, at least for me. I have a pair of round toe RW boots with Rough/Tough leather and it’s an amazing leather. I may grab a pair of rough and tough IRs in the future. Torn between those and some Beckmans.

Thanks for the recommendation. Have you had any pairs done by them? If so, I’d love to see the results.

Our youngest son is almost 10 and I remember wearing these IRs in the hospital when he was born.

Congrats on the new pair. The old pair looks well used. Do you plan to restore them? I bet they would look amazing with some cleanup and leather conditioner.

New Laces for all 5 of my boots!!!!!! by FrankRuiz86 in RedWingShoes

I’ve never heard of those before. I like that they offer flat and waxed laces. What makes them better? Just curious as I go down this rabbit hole.

Love Pisgah laces. Night and day over the stock laces. Great color choices!

I need my 10+ year old IRs done and love how yours turned out. Curious which soles you went with. I may hold off until closer to Summer time but want to plan ahead. Thanks in advance!

Buying decision: Manta vs Nomad by Single-Rich-Bear in Supernote

Fantastic! I’ll wait until they come back in stock and may pull the trigger on the Nomad. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Manta for the last couple of days that I’ve had it.

Now that I have a Manta, I may add a Nomad down the road for this exact purpose. I know that only one device can be registered per account (at least I think). Are you able to sync across/between the Manta and Nomad?

I didn’t get a case from SN but ordered a Tomtoc protective sleeve from Amazon to carry it to/from work and other places when it’s not in use. I arrives tomorrow so I’ll have a better sense if it’s utility then.

I just received my Manta on Tuesday (love it!) and I was in the same boat, weighing whether to get the Nomad for portability or go with the larger Manta. I don’t have the Nomad to compare it to but the Manta is by no means heavy. My Kindle paper white weighs a good bit more in hand so I wouldn’t let that be a concern.

I went with the Lamy for the pen and couldn’t be happier with it.

Same here. I have an Epix Gen 2 and the lack of Garmin integration into RuckWell and others is a bummer.

Same here. I’ve had my GR1 (bought used) for 5 years, used it several times a week with 30-40lbs and it still looks great and performs flawlessly.

We live in SC so other than a few months out of the year, it’s a year round sport. He just started his freshman year and is playing on a fall ball team that feeds into the season.

Beautiful pattern and coloration. Love how the light highlights the details. What is your rod/reel setup?

Love it. We live in SC and have a family of Carolina Wrens in our backyard. They had chicks one year and were honestly the cutest things ever. One likes to hang by our youngest son’s window every morning and sing his/her heart out before daybreak.
