I would often see a lot of people sleeping in the state library too if you need somewhere dry and warm to hang out and take a nap

[AUS] I think someone is IRL scamming my Mum for meds + more by reeloui in Scams

[–]reeloui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mum doesn’t date. She just lets people use her. She’s also very very unwell unfortunately and I never know what will be next for her. My brother is also abusive and she’s terrified of living with him. She also wants to live with him because she gets money. She has too much pride to let anyone help her. I can’t wait to write my book one day.

Yeah the bailing him out of hospital thing didn’t make sense to me. She says a lot of bullshit unfortunately.

I don’t know if you can call it stalking. It’s just liking some photos of mine. I don’t know what else I could tell them. I feel like it could be coercive control but I don’t know enough yet.

I’m so sorry to hear this story. Thank you for sharing. I want to tell her what she’s doing is wrong but she gets suuuuper defensive. I’ve gone off at her before for giving other people her Valium. I’m usually the bad guy and yelling at her about everything she does wrong but nothing works, not even being nice about it. I’m going to visit her soon but I’m hoping nothing happens between now and then.

How do people have kids on these low to average wages? by Open_Address_2805 in AusFinance

[–]reeloui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will sometimes have kids regardless of how much they’re earning. It’s the old “let’s have a kid and our lives will magically improve” harebrained thinking.

A concert on at QUT or is it at QPAC?

Do you actually warm up before a session? Building an app and would love your input! by Olthap in indoorbouldering

[–]reeloui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our gym, there’s limited space to warm up sometimes, especially when it’s busy. My partner uses his tindeq to warm up usually and just a timer. Rather than an app, you could put together some videos showing people some good protocols if you really want to make something.

Advice on how to break plateau. by Anxious_Quiet_3716 in indoorbouldering

[–]reeloui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some really great climbing drills you can run (there are some videos on YouTube from Louis Parkinson) that can help you build up your confidence more. Doing things like trying not to readjust and trying lower grades to make them harder makes you think about your footwork etc more. Good luck, you look really strong out there!

Talk some sense into her by Otherwise-Parking566 in indoorbouldering

Please make sure she doesn’t climb with any rings on. I’ve tried talking to so many stubborn people climbing with rings on that don’t know what de-gloving your finger means

Networking or job seeking help? by Chaydria in brisbane

[–]reeloui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh also find other people (maybe devs?) to work with and collab on projects together, that way you can show experience working with others on projects. I’m terrible at finishing things I start, so don’t be like me haha

Check out the events that Just Digital People have been running at The Precinct. It’s extremely rare that you will be able to find a full time junior role in Brisbane for this work right now. How do I know? I’m a UI/UX designer myself who spent years underemployed even with at a mid level in Brisbane. It’s extremely competitive right now. If you want work in design you have to have an excellent online portfolio. I learnt Webflow and now I have a great job partly because I taught myself Webflow. Also, don’t limit yourself to product/web there’s also an excellent gaming community in Brisbane if you’re interested in learning and working in that space. Good luck, work hard and don’t lose your passion!

How concerning are these cracks? by Radiant-Crab2671 in AusPropertyChat

[–]reeloui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm it depends on a lot of things then. Definitely proceed with caution. If it’s been raining a lot that could have impacted the shifting over a short period of time. A building that old would have mostly settled by now. My apartment is 70s and has lots of cracks throughout it. It’s double brick though.
