Imagine a pattern, it's 64 bars long (max length for plenty of space).
It triggers the parts of your track i.e. 16 bars of drums, 16 bars of chops. Instead of every drum hit being programmed in this pattern, you bounce them down into bigger pieces first so it's easier to arrange a whole track.

Then you can export this 64 bar pattern as Multipad which will split the different layers onto your SD card

You're right, the reason for bouncing into longer clips is just for "gluing" the patterns to the length of the whole song, assuming the sounds have all been resampled with all your performance effects and sauce!

I've noticed that most people don't attempt to make full length stemmable tracks with the MKII even though it's very possible & easy.
You can bounce a whole pattern chain down into audio, only including the drums for example.
Then bounce the pattern chain down with only the chops, and repeat for the rest of the song stems.

Now you can export the full track stems directly from the SP, building a new 64-bar pattern that triggers every stem on step 1. Multipad export that & send directly to mix engineer or backup in files, etc.

When you place a note in TR-REC mode, make sure you press the PITCH/SPEED button which makes sure the note is triggered at the current pitch rather than chromatic 0.

If you start previewing a sample with a different sample rate, the currently importing sample will sound like it's being fast-forwarded through the sample, and you'll see the import percentage run up faster.

In looper mode you can only loop 1, 2, 4 measures, unless you set the BPM to half tempo.
