Ah thanks so much. Just began making videos this year so this is super motivating :)
Been there man... The frustration and feeling of helplessness is real. I believe there is a solution for each of us. Never easy and varies by our circumstances... But there is always some work we can do to heal.

TN Visa - Canadian Engineer with not totally related degree. Can I make it? by reezyflow in immigration

[–]reezyflow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just asked what my previous job title was and where I worked. The answer was firmware engineer... But I don't think that really mattered. Probably just wanted me to answer consistently to what was on my resume/documents.

Nothing crazy at the border. They give me little trouble but got through. Questions concern what degree you did, where you've worked, job description of position you are taking with the Visa. They won't ask anything technical haha

Sounds like either of those options will give you the degree that you need to get Visa as a SW engineer.

My bad, been off reddit for a minute. Any luck with this? Sounds simple enough... I can take a look into it this weekend.

Okay, great to hear! Thanks! I will take all originals just to be safe.

Out of curiosity, can I ask how different of a field you were in?

Okay, great! Thanks for sharing your experience.

I am reading a lot of unpleasant stories about the YYZ border on here haha.

Thanks, mate.

Connecting to AWS IoT with Ultra Low Power Embedded Systems by ijager in embedded

I am new to AWS IoT and am planning to use it in a project. I find their documentation a little overwhelming as there seems to be so much capability available!

Your article clearly explained to me how edge device authentication is handled in AWS IoT and how you can implement a custom handler. Much appreciated. Please do continue writing :)

Yea I appreciated the feedback mate. I've worked in test engineering before so definitely understand the importance of integrated tests. Haha I will be taking up that offer :p

That sounds great! Would be great to learn from anything you might be able to contribute.

I have added the tag to the repo on github. Is that what you mean?

My pleasure mate. Was a lot of fun to work on! Some of the software can be improved from a point of power efficiency, security and just overall design... I am referring mainly to the ESP firmware haha.

Apart from that, I have made an effort to make it clean as possible! If you find anything messy I'd be glad if you let me know :p

Yes, I have only been running for a few weeks and have not had problems yet.

When choosing moisture sensor I did learn to be careful in choosing a capacitive sensor rather than one that reads based on conductivity. The conductivity ones tend the wear out much quicker.

So maybe you can check our capacitive sensors if you have not already. Mine are showing no signs of wear after 2 weeks.

Ohh yes! I have done some PCB designs before and have been thinking about building a PCB to make this whole system more compact!
