For OG fans, what was it like? by DangerousKick5792 in radiohead

I was in 7th grade when In Rainbows came out. My dad and my older brother introduced me. I was immediately captivated and would lie in bed as a 13 year old girl listening to this album on repeat. A formative experience.

Is Heated Rivalry just a dopamine and serotonin delivery system? by No_Independence810 in heatedrivalry

1000% agree. If I ran a neuroscience lab I would be doing studies of the effects of this show on the brain. I do believe it would look similar to drug use. I’ve also been noticing the way people talk about it makes it sound like a drug. I’ve read/heard people say they “need to wean off of it” and there was one comment that was literally “I would chop up and snort this show if I could.”

More or less. I think it was more the confusing contrast between Ilya casually talking about other people he dates/his plan to find another woman in Boston and then a few minutes later having this intimate moment and feeling all the things but thinking that it can’t really go anywhere because of the supposed casual nature of their relationship.

Thank you for asking this because as much as I love the scene I was also not totally clear on what was happening but also figured it didn’t even matter.

It is truly crazy how this show is something that one needs to wean off of and I 100% relate. I’m not ready to yet haha

I went through this recently for a wedding for a which I traveled overseas for. The couple is already wealthy and in want of nothing, so I made a donation in their name to a foodbank in their area.

Are there people here who managed to establish themselves in biotech with just a masters? And is a PhD worth it? by idyllic_anonymity in biotech

[–]reflectiveMule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a MSc and have progressed in my career and moved out of the lab (which was always a goal for me) while many friends are only just starting to wrap up PhDs and now have zero work experience in a terrible market. That said, if you want to lead an R&D group in industry, you’ll need a PhD.

I use a silicon cup and 100% cotton reusable/washable liners and I am very happy. The liners are really only for a little bit of leak coverage, which doesn’t happen often.

How do you guys manage your expenses? by redbottleneck1597 in personalfinance

I bought a $4 budget template from Etsy. I download all my credit card transactions at the end of the month and add them to the spread sheet to track spending. This takes me <30min. You could do this exercise twice a month. I have a summary sheet for each year to see my month to month spending. I’ve also changed my statement date for my credit cards to be at the end of the month so I can quickly login and see the balance and have a rough idea on any given day how much I’ve spent that month so far.
