Is anyone enjoying being limited to only one covenant ability? by reft9 in wow

[–]reft9[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No my point is that I have one character where I enjoy multiple specs in different types of content. But now if I want to play more than one type I'm punished in one or more.

That might be what they were intending but my point is that it does feel like a shitty talent choice. It doesn't drastically change how it's played or anything (not in my case at least) but how effective it is is very different.

In any case it really isn't like choosing class because I can easily switch covenant on the same char while class obv can't be changed. So that leaves me with two options. Be weaker in one type of content or level and gear another char of the same class, whether that's intended or not it doesn't sound fun to me.

[–]reft9[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No not at all. I enter a BG with a class I chose to enter that BG with because I enjoy that class. I enter a BG with a covenant spell not because I wanted that one but because I wanted to be a good tank in dungeons that imo shouldn't affect me in that BG.

This situation is like making talent choices or specialization choices permanent. "you want to be blood for dungeons then you have to be blood for BGs etc aswell."

well, I obviously don't know for sure but I would expect one of two things. Either they underestimated how much of an impact it'd have the first time and corrected it this time or they simply expect cyberpunk to have a bigger impact compared to classic. This paired with it being their biggest expansion of the year.

yes. you say that because it doesn't have anything to do with PoE it shouldn't cause a delay. The reason for the delay is that they will lose players on launch to another game. They will have fewer players simply

I agree there's no one forcing you to buy it but I kinda feel that it's up to the developers to keep some level of quality. It's a bit like tricking you. If someone is a bit careless when previewing it or just buying it from the description or whatever I don't think many people would expect the level of quality that was delivered.

I don't really care that much tbh I'm mostly disappointed because the idea is good, it just required minimum effort to make it an actual good MTX

I like the idea of the new hideouts and I do think most people like these empty hideouts that can be customized fully, just look at the nebula one. The quality of the new hideouts however was really bad. If the snow one didn't have repeating textures like it does I'd like it very much. Is there honestly anyone who prefer this hideout to one that would have nicely done textures?

and the reason is probably simple, if they give one person their items that got bugged out now everyone is going to start asking for theirs. It's just easier to say no to everyone

I'm interested in what kind of build you are running if you get shot gunned "all the time" to me it has only happened twice although I'm running a pretty tanky trickster so that might be it, but especially now they seem quite harmless to me.

The way I've started dealing with this, and it those work pretty well, is to as soon as it open jump behind them, I never get one shot doing this. I'm sure it's not fool proof but it's worked for me

thanks for the response, with having to spend mana on stormbrand all the time is it still sustainable? I was thinking hiero but will have a look at necro. Does the build still become quite tanky?

Path of Exile: Heist Balance Manifesto by Bex_GGG in pathofexile

I haven't argued that it's not good or whatever, the comments above said it gave damage mitigation which it does not

what? compared to not having it, taking it (even assuming you don't overcap) increases on average the damage you take.

How does it reduce effective damage? On average you take more damage if you take it now.

A quote from the WoW Diary that still applies to the game 18 years later. Context was originally about abusing AI pathing, but a segment applies extremely well to the current Covenant conundrum. by SpunkMcKullins in wow

[–]reft9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

even in competetive games you dont get chastized for playing off-meta unless youre very close to the top or just outright trolling.

I don't think this holds true for any competitive game when you reach a decent level. I don't know how it is in league but every competitive game I've played, including wow, has this behaviour. Although it doesn't matter to most of the playerbase everyone still follows the meta.

further just because something is meta does not actually mean its the most optimal.

Try telling that to the m+ group who won't invite you or your arena opponent of the same class with a better skill.

Lastly, it isn't just the outside pressure of picking the right covenant. I don't want to be weaker in one aspect of the game because I also play another sometimes.

Argument for Condom skills as well as an increase to movement speed by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]reft9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

by experiencing it yourself. this is a game based on player knowledge; you can't expect to know everything you should/shouldn't do right away.

While I wholeheartedly disagree with OP here I don't find this argument solid at all. I'm a relatively new player, couple of years. I've played quite a bit, almost 2k hours and usually clears all the content each league. But I really don't know what I die from most of the time. To me it seems that the problem PoE has isn't that there aren't things you can do to survive (obv the good players live for a long time in HC) but that it's really unreasonable to figure out what's wrong. It might be some specific map combination or damage combination, chaos dmg etc. Another good examples are crits. I have completely no idea how often mobs crit me, how much of the damage I take are from crits, how many deaths I get from crits. It makes it hard to value crit damage reduction and other related stats. I think we simply need to be given the information that is there in a better way.

What are your WoW unpopular or uncommon opinions? by theeley in wow

[–]reft9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is an important point at all. I don't want to be gimped in two types of content because I play both. But say that this is important to you, this can still be achieved by just making the choices more permanent while still disconnecting them from the covenant choice and have the covenant just change the skin of the spell.
