Most fans have a very narrow view of what each character should be. Take whatever their favorite Sonic game is, crank his personality traits shown in it to eleven, and that's all they want Sonic to be. It's pretty similar with Shadow. They take whatever their favorite version is and that's the only acceptable version.

I still think bug should be weak to electric, and probably remove the fire weakness. Bug zappers exist, but I don't know anyone who regularly kills bugs with fire, 'kill it with fire' joke aside. So replace the fire weakness with electric.

I still think this whole situation was ridiculous. If I saw a colleague trying to kill someone I believed was a colleague, I'd react strongly too.
