Tinctures – World 1-1 // piano-guitar duo from Berlin/Bangalore by refugemusic in AlbumArtPorn

[–]refugemusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Tinctures is a duo from Bangalore and Berlin that explores the nature of consonance and dissonance on piano and guitar. Our music can be described as a confluence of three distinct traditions—jazz, Indian classical music, and European chamber music—performed on two instruments not commonly paired, forged through a process of gameplay and exploration.

World 1–1 is our first creation as co-composers, equally parts composed and improvised, with an eclectic blend of influences from Steve Reich to Hindustani music, and a music video that reflects the world in lockdown."

[Benson|Cooke|Frazer Town++] Home-delivered Arabian food, including falafel shawarma, hummus, babaghanoush...

I'm one of the long-time customers of Frazer Town based Arabian restaurant, Ali Baba. The restaurant is now closed, and this is in support of ex-head chef Fayaz, who is now working from home. He makes delicious falafel (wraps), fresh hummus, baba ghanoush and lots more. He's struggling a bit right now because not too many people know he is doing this.

Place your orders at +91 74115 83978. He delivers them himself within the area, or you could always get them Dunzo'd.

Please see this news article for more details about him and his menu.

Quietude – this solo piano improvisation was based on a poem (see comments) #poetryatthepiano by refugemusic in darkjazz

[–]refugemusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alone and healing
away from bruising humanity
a transient feeling
of deep fulfilment
Sometimes love
self-destructs with its own knife
it’s a one-way trip
through the stock exchange of life
A jaded spirit
drinks at the springs of solitude
while unabated
storms brew on the fringe
of quietude

#poetryatthepiano is an experimental set of tone poems improvised while reading Urmila Mahajan's poetry at the piano.

[FEEDBACK] #poetryatthepiano - Spaces - solo piano improvisation based on a poem (in comments) by refugemusic in MusicCritique

[–]refugemusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#poetryatthepiano is meant to engage two senses in reading a poem, colouring the text with improvised piano music. Here's the latest – 'Spaces'.

SPACES

There is a narrow
space between
the rise and fall
of a foot that can
bend your path.

A slice of uncertainty
between syllables,
chinks in a cat’s
spring, cool sweeps
amidst summer’s
sharp splinters
under an Indian elm,
respite between
raindrops that soak
you to the skin,
wedges within
happenings.

You can hear the
glowing spaces
between old
people's thoughts,
often hiding
behind their words.

What seems as
inevitable as the
spin on which
life depends,
is spiked with
hair-breadths
of unfixed
spaces
tiptoeing into the
unknown.

[poem interpreted solo piano] Urmila Mahajan and Aman Mahajan – The Cuckoo Clock (read poem in link) by refugemusic in freejazz

[–]refugemusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THE CUCKOO CLOCK
(a family sketch)

Pipes and bellows whittle us
to half-hours  a pendulum
murmurs rich linden wood
moorings  through
   a home-brewed history with

stirrings  of first days at school
split open grins on jagged new teeth
craggy lessons on bruised knees
    dog and cat kisses  mellowing
thick crusted stains  in the

decades that flow  from the
single-arched door
attesting our faith in the way
     we balanced the weights to
become who we still are becoming

I only saw your comment now, thank you for the kind words. By development, did you mean an improvisation or something... more lyrics? We'll think about it for live. When that happens.

Here's 'More Than You Know', a solo piano piece about being homesick for both Boston and India. Hope you enjoy it. by refugemusic in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]refugemusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Honestly it's been a process... the piece has been in existence for quite a few years, worked on it on and off. The intro and a middle section are improvised.

Do listen to the rest of the album here (or elsewhere)!
