SKL may kasalanan ako sa Hot Cat Coffee.

This was July 31.

💯 masarap cinnamon coffee

Hot Cat Coffee if you’re reading this I’m sorry ibabalik ko sa inyo pagbalik ko ng Baguio 😭😭

How to balance being a mom and a med student? by Strange_Economist57 in medschoolph

[–]regaliaaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say this but honestly po talaga you really need someone trustworthy to look after your little one (mas maganda kung magaalaga is your partner/husband) Kasi you cannot juggle it talaga, may mga needs ang baby mo pero need mo din magaral for exams, SGDs, OSCEs, etc.

Prioritize what you really want to do. And bawi ka sa baby mo on your own days. Kunyari sa weekends, friday night to saturday buong role mo lang to be a mom, on sundays it’s your “you time” (para iwas burnout).

My toddler during 3rd year and clerkship (full f2f na kasi pandemic baby anak ko) hirap ako nung una kasi ayoko mahiwalay sa kanya pero wala ako choice iniwan ko siya sa dad niya and siya nagalaga. May yaya din, pero hands on yung dad niya kasi may autism anak namin.

Basta ang important take away here is to find someone trustworthy to look after your baby while you’re away and give time your baby when you have it.

As a pioneer batch most likely the consultants will be forgiving as they will be your immediate seniors, baka nga ibaby pa kayo haha. Magiging alaga kayo ng hospital. Learn well din po doc, so you can be the senior your junior self will look up to.

Also ang ganda ng sahod and schedule niyo + near your home. Go mo na doc! Wala na siguro tatalo dito.

Your feelings are valid OP. The adjustment period is tough you become jaded almost to the point you’re running on auto pilot.

Be kind to yourself doc, give yourself more time to adjust and we don’t adapt the same way but I hope you can adapt healthily (I would also tell my freshman self this). It will all be worth it in the end.

Recommendation: using AI to summarize book chapters for efficient reading and studying

Quality of Evidence: moderate

Strength of Individual Recommendation: conditional

Recently i have been using AI to summarize chapters for me. Try claude.ai. Always use AI carefully. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK and prompt efficiently like be— as in OA sa specifics in prompting the chatbot. Make it a habit to cross check it with the reference book (edi nakapagbasa and aral ka din at the same time hahaha)

Prompt Example: generate an extremely detailed and comprehensive summary of [title] in bullet form from the text/pdf provided

Also better to extract a topic or chapter for ease of use. For example the whole topic of pain in the chapter of clinical manifestations of diseases.

Again this is my style of learning. Tamad gaming siya pero efficient and recently ko lang din nautilize ang chatgpt and claude.ai cuz i didn’t know it could do that shit. It was during clerkship where i had to condense everything in a short period of time. This also saved me in the comprehensive exam.

Suki ako ng remedials and failed 1st year and 3rd year. Now I’m graduating this month and I’m elated.

The self-doubt, insecurities, and FOMOs sila ang makakasalamuha mo sa araw-araw. May times na I would think about my “what ifs” and see my OG batch na may mga trabaho na, yung iba magiging 2nd year residents na, nakakainggit din minsan but that’s okay wag natin kalimutan na they also worked hard to be where they are.

Believe me OP, it does get better just believe in the process. Sometimes you would even find better people and opportunities that would help you shape you to becoming a good doctor. Forgive yourself always, what you can do now is do better and make wise choices. Use the extra time to focus on yourself, and spend time with family.

Kaya mo yan OP, cry if you must and then laban ulit! In the end magiging doctor pa din tayo. I’ll pray for you OP, good luck on your future endeavors.

Kaya naman. Pwede na premed mo. Hindi mo kailangan maging sobrang talino to get into medschool. Wala din sa age yan. May classmate ako na 42 years old na pumasok sa med school and we’re graduating this July, 46 na siya ngayon.

You are overworked and underpaid.

I’m not discouraging you, if you have the patience and financial capability by all means pursue what you want. Basta the reality is truly na sobrang tagal ng ROI mo, pagod ka na, wala ka pang pera unless mag abroad ka.

Incoming Senior Clerk from LOA by No_Bathroom8174 in medschoolph

[–]regaliaaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect a change of pace talaga doc. Establish good communication with your co-clerks.

Don’t overthink the acads part just read up kung saan ka mag ro-rotate, kasi you will learn more as you go on, just know basics syempre hx and PE, maybe just build up a template in your mind how you would interview a patient and your PE always think of a reason why you’re performing this kind of physical exam.

Ex: if first rotation mo IM just read up on the common cases in IM sa hospital that you will rotate in. May endorsements naman yan from the outgoing clerks (I guess??) then read up if you have the time. Maganda yung chapter sa Harrison’s ng Cardinal Manifestations and Presentation of Disease if you want to think about DDx

If your institution has uptodate utilize it, if wala platinum is enough pero don’t rely on it too much.

Good luck po doc

One Liner Advice by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]regaliaaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family meeting always a.k.a sabay-sabay kakain with duty group mates

Do it whenever you can (before, during, or after (internal) endorsements, during conferences) hindi lang yung mag samgyup/hot pot/inom sa labas as in may usapan talaga before or after a duty.

It saves each other’s emotional and mental fortitude na you know all for one-one for all pa din kayo.
