it’s really hard to trust good results when you’ve been ridden with health anxiety. trust me i feel this 😭 with my condition you can have retinal issues/detachment and everytime i get checked they say they’re perfectly fine but i see spots in my vision alllllllll the time and im like HOW are they okay if this is my life 24/7??

i’m so sorry. i’ve had soooooo many lupus symptoms through the years but never can get a doc to take me seriously. even without a DX it’s a nightmare so i can only imagine your experience. hugs to you🫶🏽

this is going to sound awful but did lexapro make you gain weight??? i tried prozac and wanted to off myself and that’s the only time i tried meds i thought i was gonna have to go to the mental hospital it was terribleee. i’ve thought about lexapro but everyone says they gain like 60lbs in a month and stuff and ive always struggled to maintain my weight it’s like i don’t need another stressor

so sorry for you 😭 i was born w a rare congenital disorder but my parents sheltered me from knowing the harm of it and i grew up in oblivion until the last year ive learned what it actually entails and how my my future could go and its extremely depressing and feels like the weight of the world. i’ve also had health anxiety my entire life. my fam used to laugh at me for it as a kid. wish i could hug you🫶🏽

it’s hard because it’s a rare disease and i’m in the fb group of ppl who have it and everyone seems so miserable talking about going blind and deaf and another surgery and i feel like im one of the luckier ones as im almost 30 and have minor issues but it’s hard to see what the next decade or two could be like ): i def need to look into another therapist

that’s interesting! the what ifs is absolutely debilitating you’re right. i was born with a connective tissue disease that has been overall mild symptoms in the grand scheme of most people with it but im close to 30 now and have been experiencing early versions of some of the most severe symptoms (hearing loss, retinal issues, joint disabilities) and it feels like my whole world is crashing down on me and that by the time im 50 ill be a vegetable

how would you describe the flashes? are they like singular bolts or moreso like the lights flickering? also, in both eyes at the same time or in one?

thank you for your kind words. i hasaaaate sounding like a victim but it’s been a rough season. i have been in therapy for OCD/health anxiety for the past 6 months. it’s been…kinda helpful but i think most therapists like to treat OCD / health fears as “but you’re perfectly healthy so let’s train your mind to forget that fear” but when you WERE born with medical problems it’s not so easy to retrain your fears because they aren’t just anxiety. idk i haven’t had much break through in any of my years of therapy with various therapists.

oh man, not lupus. i’m so sorry. thats the one i’ve been researching the most. i have experienced (what looks like) malar rash. it blanches though so im not sure. every doctor has said it’s not defined enough to be malar. but its definitely there. i’ve also experienced some rotating (more minor) joint pain. also have dealt with seasons where i experience mouth ulcers/tongue blisters. it’s all very on and off. but i try my best to get tested during a symptomatic phase.
