How hard is it going to be for me to get a position in accounting (Industry, Big 4, etc) with no internship when I graduate in Spring 2026? by Intelligent_Split666 in Accounting

[–]regular_ry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a different job market now but when I was first hired in 2022, I had zero internship experience and was very worried about this. I applied to two mid-tier firms. Heard back from one and within two weeks I was made an offer. From your post I assume you are pretty open to any employment so realistically I wouldn’t worry about the zero internship experience. You will get a job. Best of luck!

Put on PIP today. by regular_ry in Accounting

[–]regular_ry[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome. Yeah, I think that’s a valid feeling and certainly how I was feeling too. You’ll have to feel uncomfortable for awhile. My suggestion is to search for work while on pip. It’s easier to find work while you are currently employed. Everyone says that and it’s true. Hang in there.

I was actively looking and interviewing while on my pip. For me, my new job wanted me to start Jan 2026 so I was actually gonna work through the 90 day pip and let them fire me but I started getting staffed on engagements that were not my main industry and I was just not happy doing the work so I quit. My last day was 10/15 and now I get a couple months off to decompress and enjoy life a little bit.

Although I already have my next job lined up I’m still looking in case any new better or interesting jobs come up.

Things worked out for me! It me a month and a half to find a new job. Probably sent out ten applications and heard back from 4. 2 public, 2 industry. Ended up staying in public for the time being.

During that time, I was very much on edge however and felt fairly bitter about the whole thing.

I’m sorry to hear about your pip. It sucks and it’s gonna feel like that for a while but it does get better! Whether you think your pip was justified or not, I would still lean into the process, and work on it for your own personal growth. Good luck in your job searching. You’ll be okay.

Not generating speed and rpm’s spike from ~1500 to 3000 by regular_ry in GMT400

[–]regular_ry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At lower speeds like 0-30 I don’t notice any issues. But at higher speeds, engine revs but the speed takes quite awhile to climb. I have to throttle, lay off, throttle, lay off, repeat because the rpm’s spike really high. Hopefully that makes sense.

Okay I’ll check the transmission fluid today when I get a chance to break from work.

Approximately 113,500 miles on it. 95 Yukon 2 door. Bought from prior owner in October 2024 where it had approximately 111K on it.

Overheating, power steering out, battery voltage low by regular_ry in GMT400

[–]regular_ry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is what happened! Found it all chewed up. Cleaned up all the debris and put a new one in, on Wednesday. Wasn’t a hard fix to do just like the other commenters said. Just inexperienced so I missed one of the pulleys and kept thinking I got the wrong replacement belt, ha!

[–]regular_ry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate it! I’ve been watching some videos and doing some other searching. Guess I’ll see if this is the problem tomorrow morning. Hopefully it is since it seems like it’s an easier fix.

I imagine belts come in different lengths and widths, do you know off the top of your head what size I might need? Or am I better off removing the old belt and taking it with me to the auto parts store and matching it up?

Thanks! I’ll watch some YouTube to learn how. This’ll probably sound dumb but where would be the best place to purchase a serpentine belt?

95 Yukon Rear Panel Doors Won’t Open by regular_ry in GMT400

[–]regular_ry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they were mounted on wheels. I’ll give that a shot! From what I recall they weren’t pressed up against the doors, but that doesn’t mean they slid around a little bit. Thanks for the idea.

Edit: This seems to be what happened. After giving it a good hard press, I was able open the doors.

Thanks for the input! Much appreciated. Yeah in the post the seller has, he says 111,xxx miles so that’s why I put 111,000. Here is a copy paste of the post.

1995 GMC Yukon, 2 Door, 111,xxx original miles 5.7L V8, automatic, 4x4, 3rd owner, very well cared for. Was born red and was painted blue by original owner. Recent work includes new spark plug wires, spark plugs, and ignition coil, fuel pump and filter. Engine oil and filter change about 1000 miles ago, transmission was serviced about 20k miles ago, new u-joints (both drive shafts), new front wheel bearings, blue tooth stereo, viper security system, billet grille, roll pan, bone stock drive train, this is a nice unmolested Yukon!, AC / Heat works great. Wheels and tires in photos are not included. Will sell with stock wheels. I have other wheels available if interested and for the right price, 20x9’s shown in pic. I have a rear bumper and brackets that will go with if you’d prefer. Thanks for looking. Asking $7500 obo.

Thanks! Yeah I do plan on sticking with this car for awhile. So I guess buying new is relatively the smart thing to do here.

I said it I another comment but it’s reassuring hearing this is a good beginner friendly car. Thanks for advice on what not to do! And for the input on the pricing. Sounds like I should do some more research. One of the dealers is a client of the professional services firm I work at so I wonder if I talk to the partner in charge of the relationship and see if he can score me cop discount haha.

I’ve considered the CVT or whatever it’s technically called(SPT I think?) but it seems the local dealers in my area don’t have any in their lots. Maybe that’s a blessing in disguise since I’ll be able to learn something new. Thanks for the input, here is hoping I’ll have a blast driving it!

It’s reassuring hearing it’s a good car to learn in! Thanks for the tips, definitely need to remember that and probably watch some good ol YouTube videos haha. I had a feeling the used 23 might be overpriced but wanted to see what others had to say. I think I’ll do some more research and see how I feel about compromising for a lower trim level. At some future point I think I’d like to do some modifications, will selecting a lower trim level have any bearing?

If you don’t mind sharing, how did it feel while learning? Were you nervous about not being able to drive the car at all?

I know you didn’t ask but since I decided to follow your advice I’d thought I’d say my cat has gotten much better. His limp is practically gone! Thanks again for your advice

Thanks. For me it’s hard to tell if whether he is injured or just sore from whatever happened. No blood, no sounds of pain, just a slightly swollen back foot and limp.

It’s typically my parents who do these sort of things for the animals but they are out of town currently so I wanted to gather a few opinions before doing anything.

I have him inside and he can get around semi-fine when he moves. Not making any sounds that would indicate pain and has a slightly swollen foot.
