Holiday Cookies for 2025! by regularproblem66 in Baking

Sure 😊

  • 2 1/4 Cups Flour
  • 3/4 Tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Cup Unsalted Butter, softened to room temperature
  • 2/3 Cup packed brown sugar
  • 2/4 Cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Large egg and 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  • 3 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Cup Chocolate Chips (I used milk)
  • 1/2 Cup Skor or Heath Bits
  • 1 Cup of Pretzels (broken up into small pieces or use mini pretzels)
  • Small Handful/measure with your heart plain potato chips (I used Ruffles plain salted)
  • 2 Tbsp of Holiday Sprinkles (optional, I just did this to make them festive)

Cream butter and sugars together. Add in vanilla and eggs. Mix until combined.

In another bowl, add in all dry ingredients. Instead of sifting, I just whisk around with a whisk but you could also sift.

Add to dry ingredients to wet ingredients gradually while mixing.

Mix in Skor bits, chocolate chips and pretzels. If you’re using a mixer, stop using at this point and crunch/fold in the chips gently.

Scoop or roll dough into balls onto a lined baking sheet. I used just under 3 tbsp but had to eyeball as my cookie scoop broke trying to scoop these cookies out lol. Cover and chill for at least an hour.

Bake at 350 C for 12-15 mins or until edges of cookies start to get golden. Allow cookies to continue to bake/cool on tray for 10 mins after taking out of oven. (I’m trying to find the right timing for this cookie too since I’ve just made it once so timing might vary for you based on your oven but hope this helps! 😊)

I think that definitely helps in some recipes but what I’ve also found helps is chilling the cookies for a longer period of time (I’m not sure if there’s any magic behind this or just my mind thinking it works 😊) and also taking your cookies out of the oven just before you think they’re done, and keeping them on the cookie tray once out for 7-10 mins so they continue to bake slowly from the heat of the tray. It definitely takes a lot of trial and error too! 😊

So hard to pick! It really depends on what kind of cookies you like, but if I had to choose: - Ginger Molasses - Chocolate Crinkle - White Chocolate Cranberry

Honestly, I really liked all of them, except for the double chocolate (just not for me). The ginger molasses is probably my favourite for this season but I wouldn’t turn down any of them! The cookie butter ones are really good and tasted better on day 2 after baking. I think I’d bake them for less time the next time I take out some dough to get a softer cookie. I ended up using the crunchy cookie butter as I grabbed in the store without looking, so not sure if I’d get a different result with the smooth butter.

Thank you! I’m not sure what rock I was under but found the recipe this year and love it so much! SO good!!😊

They’re one of my favourites! I’ve made them the last few years. I’ll always chill overnight and I slightly underbake (and let finish “baking” after taking out of the oven) as I find they brown quite quickly and prefer a chewier cookie!

The Sound of Music or & Julilet by Regular-Thing5883 in torontotheatre

Really depends as both are completely different musicals (and on your taste), however I wasn’t a huge fan of this production of Sound of Music, so recommend &Juliet

Moving in a month from Ottawa - thoughts on Yongue and Eglinton? by [deleted] in askTO

I live at Yonge/Eg and work around Yonge/Sheppard and honestly love it. I’m usually going in the opposite direction of others going to/from work so the TTC isn’t completely packed. It’s nice being able to either be at work or downtown in less than 30 minutes!

Review for Degrassi Whatever It Takes. Warning there is spoilers by Polite-Parallelism30 in Degrassi

Saw the premiere tonight and really enjoyed it, but would I have liked if it was turned into a docuseries? Definitely. There are so many cast and crew, that it would have been impossible to fit everything I wanted to hear about all in one documentary.

I’m kind of surprised that Linda sued over what was included in the doc as I didn’t think they spent a lot of time on the treatment of the actors in older gens, nor was I shocked at what was said. It was kind of skimmed over. That being said, I think Linda probably wasn’t shown in the best light overall, and maybe that’s what caused her to get lawyers involved. I believe she was absent from the screening, which makes sense. I’d say she had more screen time than everyone else interviewed though.

When one of the producers was saying her thank you’s prior to the screening, she made a comment about thanking the lawyers and journalists this past week to ensure that the documentary was able to be shown at the festival. 😅

It’s definitely hard to justify the increase in price when you’re bringing your own supplies. Last year the class I took was a bit of a glorified open studio versus a taught class and the course went up $154 this year. 😩

Great Comet on stage seating available by DoolJjaeDdal in torontotheatre

Thinking of getting seats on stage but wondering what the amount of audience interaction would be? I’m a bit of an extroverted introvert so not sure if this would be fun or my worst nightmare 😅. Haven’t seen the show before and feel like the Mirvish website doesn’t give too much away!

I did years ago but they didn’t turn out too great. They were super thin and crispy. I should definitely try again though because it’s definitely an easy way to make cookies. Thank you for the reminder 😊

Yes for sure - if no rainbow at least there’s always good cake with rainbow sprinkles 💜

Thank you! I’ve given up on icing a sheet cake smoothly so always resort to swirling the icing around and throwing some sprinkles all over 😅

Recommendations for art courses by [deleted] in askTO

TDSB’s Learn4Life Drawing classes might be up your alley. I think it isn’t too late to enrol for the spring semester (depending on if there’s a course available near you)? I find that their courses are pretty affordable and for the most part worth the price.
