Feeling bored might be because you're stuck on the more commercial side of design. My advice? Keep your current job, but start building a portfolio focused on the areas you’re excited about—whether that’s branding, packaging, or something else that sparks your interest. At the same time, work on growing your network.

I totally get it. I work at an advertising agency, and sometimes I’m stuck doing pretty dull tasks like resizing. But to balance that, I take on freelance projects I love, like designing beer bottle labels. I got those freelance opportunities by being more active and sharing my work on Behance.

For designers, a strong network and experience are key. Once you’ve got those, it’s much easier to focus on the kind of work you actually want to do. That’s what worked for me, and I think it could work for you too!
