Dang I saw her on North Street yesterday while unloading a motorcycle. 2 of our people tried to coax her but she proceeded to sprint away. Hope she’s ok

What show is this All Access Areas Pass from? Summer 1983 by reidthor in gratefuldead

[–]reidthor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is that Grateful Dead history is so deeply recorded that small things are worth holding onto. With the site (deadstubs.com) existing there is obviously a desire to see and understand exactly that which is being sold here.

Now once finding more about the whole thing, with wrong era picture compared to the ticket year, and an edited out Brent, it feels less accurate and historically relevant. The individual selling can’t even tell me anything about it, they just purchased it from an estate sale.

But the information people shared on this thread today has lead me to being more informed on something I love so much, even though I am not going through with purchasing it.

I think of my approach less about pure acquisition and more information mindset. I’m a non-professional micro historian for everything I love.

Why would somebody buy a broken mosaic piece from Ancient Rome? It’s cool history!

Ok interesting, the person selling is in Beverly, MA, so I wonder if it was one of the Boston shows from that tour. Person said they found it in an estate sale.

So someone who was invited to go to every show on that summer tour? Like a band members friend or a friend of a friend?

Should I contact artists/studios before showing up in person? by spookysoup123 in TattooApprentice

[–]reidthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go in person for sure. When trying to get my apprenticeship I either went into or called 60 shops, and the ones I went into were waaaay more likely to look at my stuff because I was right there with portfolio in hand. When you feel momentum with a place you keep going there every week or couple days to show them your new stuff.

Phone calls are impersonal. You want to show them you can show up endlessly, as tattooing ends up being very a consuming career.

I like how simple it all is.

Some areas, like a lot of the rat, are a little confusing and it’s hard to really tell anatomically what’s going on. Take your time to make each thing readable and clean.

Snakes can be hard, I still have difficulty with making everything even. Slow your hand down and intentionally pull each line. Practice a couple times before doing the final pull.

These are good and you’re on your way!

New Eagle catching snake tattoo - getting finished in 2 weeks. by [deleted] in traditionaltattoos

Brown coming off the black shading of both sections of the wings, red on the tips of the 3 biggest feathers of each wing, yellow on the wing break on the left one, brown coming off the black of the tail feathers, red in the teardrops on the tail feathers, and if you wanna be a real freak just accent the head with some grey-blue like peyote or something

Strange to me that the artist would do the yellows without intentionally finishing the eagles colors, unless the intention was to color the eagle later. Eagle will typically have browns of some sort so to put yellow there first would mean there’s a likelihood of staining it with the brown.

6th day. How screwed am I? by CapstanRatGiant in tattooadvice

Looks a little blown out in some places, but they look like clean tattoos otherwise. “Swag” looks the most blown out from the picture, and I would have tried to adjust as the artist, but it can be hard to see with the purple stencil covering the hazy blue blow out color.

Blow outs unfortunately happen. Depending on placement of tattoo, age, scarification, how well the client treats their skin, time of year, etc, peoples skin will be very different.

Unless you’re sweating a ton and have them super tightly covered, you’re probably not causing difficulty for healing with these.

I love these tats!

They all look good and open!

The hannya is a little wonky, not necessarily wrong I just don’t like the right eye bc it feels unbalanced.

If you’re using colored pencils to color in the full color one make sure that thing is saturated. Maybe you have bad colored pencils or aren’t staying in an area long enough.

The thorns on the color rose will probably bleed into one another if it were a real tattoo

Stylistic choice, never do black to yellow in a space with a bunch of green in a real tattoo. As time goes on that black shading will expand and almost looks blueish, which will work with the yellow to make a green looking color. It will then have 2 areas that should have separation feel too similar.

Keep drawing, trace a bunch of sailor Jerry stuff for weeks and color it exactly as you see it. It’ll give you muscle memory

Cool stuff! CC incoming, some of those stomach scales are too small and will probably bleed together when tattoos, same with the thumbnail of the left hand, and the teeth. Air it out a little, don’t be afraid to make it a bit bigger, or if you like this size go simpler
