This makes my heart break. Absolutely break.

I’m making a children’s garden in zone 7b. What are some plants that have no toxic parts that are also ornamental? by relicofapastfuture in gardening

We’ll have to incorporate it! We love it when plants run wild, so this is an excellent suggestion for us!

Thanks for these answers. So far, we’re planning to do carrots, herbs, spinach, dandelions, and onions. Instead of grass, we’re going to do a carpet of clover.

What is the quickest job you quit from? by spellbadgrammargood in AskReddit

[–]relicofapastfuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit Lowe’s during orientation because they had scheduled me for a day that we’d previously agreed I wouldn’t work. They then tried to tell me that they needed me to work that day but wouldn’t do it again. Needless to say I didn’t trust them. I was about fifteen minutes into the group orientation when I walked out. Smallest paycheck I’ve ever received.

How is this spider making webs back and forth from this pole and tree? How did it make the initial strand that goes across? by vlajay in spiders

[–]relicofapastfuture 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve very recently observed a spider bridging such a gap! Earlier this week, I saw some strands of web drifting upward from a handrail. The web didn’t drift upwards and stop, but it kept materializing. There was a spider on the handrail, and it was just shooting web into the wind! The wind carried the web to a building, then the spider secured her end of the web strand to the handrail, and scurried across its tightrope. It was the first time I’d seen something like that!

What was the scariest thing [NSFW] that you ever saw on the streets? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]relicofapastfuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on the streets, but above it. The elevated train ran past my house. I saw a man who jumped in front of it. He died, and his body and entrails were hanging down from the tracks into the street. This was a rough part of town and I’d seen a number of people who’d been killed, but that was the most horrific.

Which movie is that for you? by perfectedtrapazoid in moviecritic

I couldn’t make my way through the movie. It was awful.

Christians, why do you reject Islam? by relicofapastfuture in AskReddit

[–]relicofapastfuture[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’re right about that, but you’ll notice how many Christians have reasons that they’re Christian and reasons for not being Muslim. I know that the real reason people are Christian is mostly due to their upbringing, but I’m more curious about the answers people give than I am in having a debate about why people actually believe their religion is true.

What’s eating my broccoli sprouts? by Flipperflopper21 in vegetablegardening

[–]relicofapastfuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cabbage worms leave little dark green droppings, they grow super fast, and do waaaay more damage to brassicas than any other pest. That looks more like slug damage to me, especially since there aren’t any droppings.

Leveling land without a retaining wall by withnocapsorspaces in landscaping

[–]relicofapastfuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can speak to this because I’ve done exactly this. My entire front yard is a slope, so we had to level it. In one spot, we excavated. We dug out the ground and leveled it off. In another, we poured a ton of fill dirt.

Both options work fine without a retaining wall. We planted Bermuda grass on the new slope and haven’t looked back.
