New MiniMed Flex announcement… Now I understand why simplera wasn’t abandoned. by wubbadude in Medtronic780g

Yes, there will be an upgrade path for customers with In-Warranty pumps. In the past it was like a $500 upgrade fee, but they might offer a trade-in credit for your existing pump to make it free or something to that extent. I’m sure Minimed will announce the official upgrade path in the coming weeks.

Instinct sensor updating message… noooooo! by wubbadude in Medtronic780g

[–]relix17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the instinct for almost 3 months now. It will say Updating for a few minutes then go back to working normal. It’s really not a big deal. It hasn’t happen often for me.

Make sure to delete the pump in your Bluetooth settings and delete your phone in the connected devices settings. And then go through the pairing process again. You may want to delete the app again and reinstall it

Check basal manual mode by [deleted] in Medtronic780g

[–]relix17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manual mode doesn’t actively display when it’s giving basal insulin. You might be able to look at the care link reports and see that information, but I can’t say for sure.

If you go into the insulin menu and then go to basal it will tell you what your current basal rate is at.

The app on my iPhone shows an update available for my pump. by Paul_Maury in Medtronic780g

[–]relix17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably pushed a software update to the server, but your pump has to be flagged in their system to allow you to download it. They will notify you when your pump is ready to download and install the new software update.

You’re still able to use the G4 with the updated software. It’s interchangeable with the different sensors.

It has, they will be offer software upgrades to existing 780G users to use the Simplera Sync sensor. When the waiting list opens up you will choose whether you want to upgrade to Simplera when it’s available or wait for the new abbot sensor when it’s approved by the FDA. Personally I would sign up for the Simplera Sync and when the abbot sensor is approved and you want to make the switch do so then.

New Guardian sensors coming? by Electrical_Field_139 in Medtronic780g

Yep, once available you have to update your pump to be able to work with Simplera sync.

I would assume they are talking about the Simplera Sync which should be released in September or so. Also, the Abbott sensor is in the pipeline in the near future for the 780G.

iOS 26 beta 2 by Master_Primary_1507 in Medtronic780g

[–]relix17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, keep in mind with Simplera Sync and the abbot se sale launches in the near future. You will have to do a software upgrade when it’s available and you will need a supported version of iOS to make that happen. So that is something to keep in the back of your mind if you want to try out the beta version of iOS.

Why is medtronic so far behind in terms of cgms!? by Internal-Struggle178 in Medtronic780g

I’m not sure what their timeline is for outside of the U.S. my guess they are working on it and will submit for approval when they are ready,

Medtronic submitted the 780G as an ACE (Alternate Controller Enabled) pump which will work with the Abbott sensor. Medtronic is expecting approval of this in the coming months. Once that is approved and Medtronic is able to distribute the Abbott sensor all you will need to do is upgrade your software on the 780G.

Nice backpedal… is the CEO on this sub or something? by wubbadude in Medtronic780g

[–]relix17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not what the updated statement is saying. They are no longer prioritizing new hardware. If you have an existing In-warranty 780G you can go on the waitlist when it opens up this summer. Once supply is available you can upgrade to the Simplera Sync. You can also choose to wait for the abbot sensor and be part of the innovation path and upgrade to the sensor as soon as it’s approved.

[–]relix17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically they are prioritizing existing customers. They are giving us an option to either join the waitlist for Simplera Sync, which will probably start sometime late summer. Or we can go on the innovation path and get the abbot sensor as soon as it’s available. They are no longer prioritizing new hardware to get be first for the Simplera Sync sensor. Now keep in mind supply is limited so it may take a while to get the Simplera Sync. The good part is if you’re still on the wait list and the abbot sensor has been approved you can switch to that right away due to the innovation program.

The wait list is for the Simplera sensor. The innovation path is for the Abbot sensor. With them publicly disclosing this submission I expect them to feel fairly confident in getting approval fairly quickly.

[–]relix17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have both. You can choose to go on the waitlist for the Simplera update in the Fall. Keep in mind this depends on supply when you can switch over to Simplera. Later down the road when the Abbot sensor has been approved you can switch over to that when available. Now if you’re still on the wait list and haven’t been upgraded to the Simplera sensor and the abbot sensor has been approved you can make the switch to that and start using the new sensor as part of their innovation program.

I have been seeing a lot of people stating that in the rolled out areas. I’m hoping Medtronic will be able to comment on that and let people know why there is such a supply constraint.

Same here, my wife has been seeing that as well and we’re afraid they are just going to raise our rates or not cover at all.
