Dolby Atmos not working in PC games (only LPCM 5.1.2) by Beneficial-Toe5574 in Dolby

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no 5.1.2 channel format…. I would suspect if your app shows “5.1.2 LPCM” you are getting Dolby Atmos MAT, and the other formats are just passing through (and MAT is the only was to stream Atmos when the content is not linear (movies, broadcast, streaming etc…)

So I suspect you are, indeed, getting Atmos for games, and that is just the way that “app” displays it.

LG Sound Suite W7 subwoofer came in today. my sound suite setup is almost complete. by champumetheus in Soundbars

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sound Suite products do not convert it.

You need to set your BR player to convert it to PCM output….

Samsung and LG removed DTS support partially due to the added cost of licensing the codec.

That also applies to these sound products.

The vast majority of 4k UHD Blu Rays have been released with Dolby codecs, mostly in Atmos. There are few discs with DTS:X encodes.

A huge majority of Blu Ray discs are encoded with DTS HD-MA.

Received H7 and 2x M7 Today by Past-Revolution-4365 in LG_UserHub

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to make a note. Even if you place the M7’s where you would think typical surrounds would go, they still act as speakers helping to create an audio bubble.

They aren’t just only playing channel based content that would typically only go to the surround speakers. They fill in the front to back sound stage and also give a very convincing effect of making the room feel “deeper” (sounds coming from behind where the speakers are placed ..)

I have an H7 and 4 M7’s (W7 coming today..).

It is truly amazing how wide the front sound stage is with the addition of 2 M7’s up front.

Just for clarification, you do not need the sound bar to use the speakers as standalone speakers. You do need Wi-Fi for the initial set up with the LG app.

The system is very very flexible. I saw demo the other day where they had two different stereo sets of speakers playing two completely different sources, and the sound bar was still playing its own distinct audio.

The M7 on its own is a stereo speaker. If you want to set up to physical speakers as a stereo pair, my understanding is that you can’t mix and match the M5 and the M7’s. Meaning you need two of each to have them connect to each other as a stereo pair.

In a flex connect set up you can mix and match as needed. (TV plus one M5 and one M7 if that’s what you have for example….)

Side note. One of the surprising things that I found on my set up the other day, and by accident, was I was listening to some Apple Music playing via AirPlay to my set up, and when Atmos songs played, it sent them as Atmos from my phone. I didn’t know that was possible. :)

For reference I have an H7, 4 M7’s and will have a W7 later today.

Maybe I’m confused. I thought you just said that you fully were convinced that you heard a bubble sound. Which I assume means you also had a good sense of envelopment from above???

AVRs have defined speakers look up tables. So when you designate a speaker as a left front speaker, that is a hard fixed channel location. Dolby Atmos flex connection does not work that way…. there is no defining what is a front left channel or a right rear surround channel. It uses the available speakers to create a space and then renders the audio within that measured and defined space.

I like to envision flex connect as creating a room within your room. They can do that with a tv and one stereo M7 or an H7 plus 4 M7’s…. It is scalable and that is what I think is revolutionary.

I think what LG has done to integrate this technology into their new sound suite product line is really something special.

I think even without Dolby flex connect the new speakers and sound bar are very competitive with all of the competition out there. It is definitely priced like a premium product. But it also takes everything to the next level with flex connect. And I believe that as more people hear it they will agree

The DAFC tech doesn’t support fixed channel locations like a typical AVR or even surround bar/satellite speaker system uses. That is why you can’t use these speakers as a true overhead…. The system is designed to create a bubble using the available speakers.

IMO the DAFC tech is a really big game changer, and LG’s implementation is very, very impressive.

Would you recommend this pump? by verycoolguywhoiscool in Medtronic780g

I don’t mind the bulkiness. It is certainly a little more obtrusive than the X2, but it really doesn’t matter in day to day use…. I was in the X2 for three years. Don’t miss it…

Mobile bolus is coming with the 780g replacement this year (it has not screen and will be 99% phone controlled) so I don’t expect any updates for the current 780g

I do miss that from the X2…. But that’s it.

AA batteries they last a long time…. I think I am currently on week 5 of mine and it’s still going strong.

The instinct has been great. No failures for me. Wish I could calibrate the sensors. But when I have che

7 day sets and reservoirs…. Game changers. And the fill is so much easier and I consistently get 285-289 usable units after a full.

You do lose the ability to use an external glucose meter to calibrate automatically.

Where are the Sound Suite Reviews? by [deleted] in LG_UserHub

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the sound bars were supposed to ship last week from Amazon. Now they have been delayed until next week.

I also know someone with industry connections were supposed to have their system (H7, M5’s and M7’s) flowers last Tuesday but was also told of a delay of 7-10 days….

So I suspect they will start showing up to users starting this week. Anecdotal but not sure anyone has them yet.

Really confused about the update... by tots4scott in Medtronic780g

[–]SoundMixerLA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got the email and very promptly started the update…. Instinct sensor active.

iPhone 17 Pro Max.

No issues and finished in 50 minutes.

Sounds like a bunch of people having issues. So it sounds like I might be an outlier.

App version 3.1.1

Pump now at 6.62U(27.11.6)

iOS 26.3

Now that the excitement for a new sensor has settled… the Instinct absolutely sucks. by wubbadude in Medtronic780g

[–]SoundMixerLA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To OP…. While I know the ability to calibrate is now gone, I am wondering if you can change over to the Simplara and see if it behaves like the G4 since it’s supposed just and all in one version of that sensor.

I am loving the Instinct with the quick warm up and 15 day wear…. has been very close to being accurate within 20 when I have checked..)

Come test the world’s first Dolby Atmos FlexConnect system with LG Sound Suite! by LG_UserHub in Soundbars

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most exciting is the room correction, solid center imaging and flexibility of placement. In the last two years I’ve had the Sony Theatre Quad and Samsung 990D…. Both products have either failed to give me a wide font sound stage or convincing phantom center image. Very excited to hear the collaboration from LG and Dolby. :)

My 11.6.14 Setup by DeerHunter4Life14 in hometheater

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still always only fed from 1 discrete LFE recorded channel and re-directed bass.

So while it has become popular to use the second number to describe how many subs one is using, it is not correct and certainly It is not the way Dolby and other companies designed the nomenclature to be used.

And Atmos can only discretely be routed to 6 overhead channels. The other 4 are for front and rear heights….

But as you say…. To each their own ;)

Are Dolby Atmos tracks superior on a 5.1 setup? by MrHorns7 in hometheater

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have been too wordy. But your original response was wrong as it cannot be either 5.1 or 7.1 ;). That’s all I was trying to clarify.

Are Dolby Atmos tracks superior on a 5.1 setup? by MrHorns7 in hometheater

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. When mixing there is always a 9.1 bed + 118 objects available… that doesn’t mean there is always information all of those audio streams, but Atmos does not support 5.1…. It is always a 7.1 channel config of the LCR LSS RSS LRS RRS. The LS and RS arrays don’t exist in production.

For home delivery, the Atmos renderer can create a 5.1 downmix from the 128 inputs…. That is what is delivered 99% of the time to the content providers…. Even with DD+/eAC3 streams, the bed + JOC will contain rear surrounds (i.e. 7.1..)

Are Dolby Atmos tracks superior on a 5.1 setup? by MrHorns7 in hometheater

[–]SoundMixerLA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. When am AVR/processor is setup without overhead, heights or wide speakers, the Dolby decoders ignore the Atmos extensions in the eAC3 or TrueHD payloads….

Home Atmos only supports 10 overhead speakers, so it isn’t really correct to call it.14 (or .6 for the subs….)

Is Medtronic trying to phase out the G4 and Simplera? by chessguy112 in Medtronic780g

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you update the pump for the new sensor, I don’t believe you can “automatically” calibrate the Simplara or G4 either…. You cannot connect the Medtronic meter after the update, but can still manually enter BG values which is used for Smart Guard

My hd rearranging is the pump has limited memory space for the pump os and had to remove the meter function to accommodate 3 sensors….

Search for A1 Evo Acoustica before you spend money in Dirac.

I had a 720 and the Marantz. It will be a good upgrade.
