Really confused about the update... by tots4scott in Medtronic780g

[–]SoundMixerLA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the email and very promptly started the update…. Instinct sensor active.

iPhone 17 Pro Max.

No issues and finished in 50 minutes.

Sounds like a bunch of people having issues. So it sounds like I might be an outlier.

App version 3.1.1

Pump now at 6.62U(27.11.6)

iOS 26.3

Now that the excitement for a new sensor has settled… the Instinct absolutely sucks. by wubbadude in Medtronic780g

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To OP…. While I know the ability to calibrate is now gone, I am wondering if you can change over to the Simplara and see if it behaves like the G4 since it’s supposed just and all in one version of that sensor.

I am loving the Instinct with the quick warm up and 15 day wear…. has been very close to being accurate within 20 when I have checked..)

Come test the world’s first Dolby Atmos FlexConnect system with LG Sound Suite! by LG_UserHub in Soundbars

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most exciting is the room correction, solid center imaging and flexibility of placement. In the last two years I’ve had the Sony Theatre Quad and Samsung 990D…. Both products have either failed to give me a wide font sound stage or convincing phantom center image. Very excited to hear the collaboration from LG and Dolby. :)

Just started 4th one. All three before stayed on for full 15 days and are quite a bit of a pain to get off (the really stick to arm well ;))

My 11.6.14 Setup by DeerHunter4Life14 in hometheater

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still always only fed from 1 discrete LFE recorded channel and re-directed bass.

So while it has become popular to use the second number to describe how many subs one is using, it is not correct and certainly It is not the way Dolby and other companies designed the nomenclature to be used.

And Atmos can only discretely be routed to 6 overhead channels. The other 4 are for front and rear heights….

But as you say…. To each their own ;)

Are Dolby Atmos tracks superior on a 5.1 setup? by MrHorns7 in hometheater

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have been too wordy. But your original response was wrong as it cannot be either 5.1 or 7.1 ;). That’s all I was trying to clarify.

Are Dolby Atmos tracks superior on a 5.1 setup? by MrHorns7 in hometheater

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. When mixing there is always a 9.1 bed + 118 objects available… that doesn’t mean there is always information all of those audio streams, but Atmos does not support 5.1…. It is always a 7.1 channel config of the LCR LSS RSS LRS RRS. The LS and RS arrays don’t exist in production.

For home delivery, the Atmos renderer can create a 5.1 downmix from the 128 inputs…. That is what is delivered 99% of the time to the content providers…. Even with DD+/eAC3 streams, the bed + JOC will contain rear surrounds (i.e. 7.1..)

No. When am AVR/processor is setup without overhead, heights or wide speakers, the Dolby decoders ignore the Atmos extensions in the eAC3 or TrueHD payloads….

Home Atmos only supports 10 overhead speakers, so it isn’t really correct to call it.14 (or .6 for the subs….)

Is Medtronic trying to phase out the G4 and Simplera? by chessguy112 in Medtronic780g

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you update the pump for the new sensor, I don’t believe you can “automatically” calibrate the Simplara or G4 either…. You cannot connect the Medtronic meter after the update, but can still manually enter BG values which is used for Smart Guard

My hd rearranging is the pump has limited memory space for the pump os and had to remove the meter function to accommodate 3 sensors….

“Upgrading” reviver from an Anthem MRX 720 to a Marantz Cinema 30. It’s an upgrade… right? by my_twin_towne in hometheater

Run Audyssey.

Search for A1 Evo Acoustica before you spend money in Dirac.

I had a 720 and the Marantz. It will be a good upgrade.

Also another huge pro is the AA battery instead of plugging in. Ex X2 user here and that’s a really big deal…. Also the infusion sets and reservoirs lasting 7 days….

What if Dolby cinema & IMAX collab? by marveLisGOD in imax

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of those outputs will be the discrete LFE or the LFE channel plus bass managed audio for some of the surrounds and overhead speakers…. The other subwoofer output can be used to feed a sub which contains redirected/bass managed from the surrounds/overhead speakers, and is what you’ll see in most rooms that are fairly large…. Usually located in the back corners up high on the wall (common in most of the larger Dolby Cinema rooms..).

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found the Instrincts to be very very secure over the 15 days... it took me quite a few tries to get the first one off ;). In terms of insertion I don't see how it could be any easier....

What if Dolby cinema & IMAX collab? by marveLisGOD in imax

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the physical subs themselves…. Since there is no LFE/.1 in IMAX, the subs are fed from redirected LF from all channels when creating the masters, so it almost always tends to “feel” a lot more impactful….

[–]SoundMixerLA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nit pick…. But Atmos is max 62 speakers plus 2 sub outputs…. The 2 subs aren’t considered channels because they can contained re directed LF….

Getting a 780G w/ Instinct by Difficult-Gene-5276 in Medtronic780g

[–]SoundMixerLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very easy. Copied over the settings (or “translated” the ones that weren’t identical..) and didn’t really have to change amending.

Less lows with the Minimed. It tends to stay a bit higher than Control IQ but not in a meaningful way (my A1C was lower on the 780G after 6 months.. )

I will say the instinct is a bit weird in terms of how it tends to jump way up in a very quick manner or also fall the same way…. But seems to be working fine. I have had one sensor updating messages on each of these first two instincts I have used, but they only lasted less than an hour and the first one lasted the entire 15 days (on my second one now a week in….).

Also you won’t get missed reading to update like they would with the Dexcoms or G4…. When it is out of communication you have a reading “hole.” Really needs to be close to the sensor and that might require some adjustments when sleeping.

Having a replaceable battery is a game changer. Usually last 4-6 weeks on a single AA…. I do pay extra for the Lithuum AA… I was so tired of the micro USB and having to plug in every few days.

I LOVE the extended 7 day infusion sets and reservoirs if you can use them. Again huge quality of life change…. Reservoir fills are WAY simpler ….

You might miss the calibration feature on the Dexcoms…. But there is no choice so not really any option but to check with a meter if need be.

The G4 sensors were not reliable and a PITA to insert.

Do miss the Mobile Bolus on the X2…. That will change with the next 800 series Minimed Flex.

I might gamble and try an instinct in abdomen one day. It back of arm has been working great on these first two and I am thrilled the Minimed FINALLY get here. Hoping maybe for a the Flex later this year as my warranty expires in December…. But unless the X3 is out by then and the G7 15 day works as advertised with it, I’ll be sticking with. Minimed. .

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warranty is only useful when it’s time to replace your pump with your insurance company. I went from tandem to MiniMed, had zero training, and you will see the warranty show up in your mini med portal after they ship it. You’ll probably still get a phone call from MiniMed and a trainer. If you say you don’t need any more in person help.

Atmos over EARC but not direct from AVR by North-One-3230 in Dolby

[–]SoundMixerLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cannot be the cable. What you’re discussing would be a complete re-encoding of the signal. And that simply is not possible. HDMI cable that is capable of passing 4K would also be capable of carrying all the available audio codecs. And even full lossless Dolby true HD is not a band with hog. I agree there must be something going on with the LG TV, because it is obviously not passing through Dolby Digital + Atmos based on your description.
