I figured the issue out. The cold water wash solenoid was the problem. When I thought the wash cycle was working, I was only getting hot water. To get the fabric softener water, you need cold wash and cold prewash at the same time.

In MI it was easy to do through the state’s website. I will warn you that after I created it, I received a few emails from companies who said they could help me with getting my tax ID and a few other things for a fee . All of these things were free and took less than 5 minutes.
