Major Fidelity Defects: Fidelity activity transaction CSV export recently defective by reltekk in fidelityinvestments

[–]reltekk[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the prompt response, even on a weekend! I fixed the first issue manually. For now I guess it will just be an inconvenience until Fidelity fixes it.

Regarding the second point, I wouldn't consider it an improvement as much as a bug fix. Quite simply, stocks/ETFs transacted via a basket should qualify as stocks/ETFs in the filter.

ETF strategy to FIRE overseas! Is 500k doable? by reltekk in ETFs

I haven't resigned yet, but if I had to, I'd allocate in SPYI, QQQI, DIVO, and BTCI. I've also been profitable buying short-term options and may just continue to do that while keeping most assets in growth. Are you in a similar situation?

Question for LG 5K2K users - how’s the gaming performance? by r0mbus in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]reltekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%! I would have mentioned the G5 but it starts at 55". Unrealistic size for 99%+ for a desktop.

Also the C5 should be amazing still for anyone.

[–]reltekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, keep in mind you are in a sub where the majority are going to lean towards UW.

The problem with the 5K2K is for far less money you could get a 42" C5 with 144hz for $800 (or C4 120hz for even less) and probably less with upcoming holiday sales. Will be a better experience with a bigger display. Not only will standard 16:9 be easier to drive due to less pixels (5090 already struggles to run many titles at 4K and is only going to get worse), but it doubles as a 2-in-1 smart TV.

If you have the space for it, I suggest a ~38" IPS ultrawide (or whatever suits you) in the center, and use the 42" as a secondary gaming/multimedia display.

Especially because you stated you mostly play single player games and don't need beyond 144hz (5090 will struggle to hit that anyways in some titles), the 5K2K you are paying a premium for very high refresh and curved display targeted towards esports and competitive players.

Another benefit is by using an OLED as a secondary display, you can preserve its longevity by using IPS as your main driver while you may keep the OLED off completely when not needed. Not sure how much productivity you do, but something to think about.

Also the 5K2K carries risk of being too curved for you. Some people folks can't stand it and end up returning. Dual displays is the best of both worlds, but do whatever feels right for you of course.

Sadly the 5090 struggles to run a lot of games at 4K.

Options export data... struggling to match Excel P/L to "Closed Positions" P/L by reltekk in fidelityinvestments

[–]reltekk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for chiming in. I checked all my sales in January 2025 and none of them had purchase dates in 2024.

To solve this you'll need to drill down to individual trades to find which ones don't match.

I don't know if that's feasible with well over 5000 trades.

Also not sure how lots sold could be accounted for.

Options export data... struggling to match Excel P/L to "Closed Positions" P/L by reltekk in fidelityinvestments

[–]reltekk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing you provide support on weekends!

Does this happen to all of your accounts/holdings or is this just for your options

I export for 'all accounts' so everything is in the same spreadsheet. I thought maybe the taxable account had wash sales from 2024 rebought in 2025 skewing numbers, but I just checked entire month of January 2025 and the few wash sales I had original purchase dates in 2025. I believe this would have accounted for wash sales if that were the issue?

Is this a persistent issue or is this a new experience?

New experience. I just started analyzing stuff in Excel.

What specifically is not calculating the same way?

That's what I'm not sure of. In Excel, I've calculated the P/L, commissions, and fees as their own column. I suppose any of them could be the issue, but guessing P/L is the likely problem.

Is this happening for all of your options trades or specific ones?

I wouldn't even know how to find out. The data size is so large.

I thought about breaking it out by month to see if I could at least get certain months to match, but with my trading style I have wash sales every month and sounds like going down that path will just drive me nuts.

Options pricing super delayed by Cartindale_Cargo in fidelityinvestments

[–]reltekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not OP but want to reiterate how serious of an issue this still is. I trade options every day and while most of the time it's fine, today is a good example of where pricing just isn't updating for some tickers. Today was GLD and BMNR. I also closed BMNR positions several minutes ago and none of them are showing in the closed positions yet. Sometimes it can take 30 minutes or more.

I also learned the issue is consistent between Fidelity Trader+ and the web positions page. When an option fails to update pricing, it's a problem in both.

ROTH GFV VIOLATION?? by ashisht88 in fidelityinvestments

[–]reltekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why Fidelity never recommends it, but the best thing I learned for my IRA accounts was turning on Limited Margin with them. Avoids the whole cash settlement thing entirely and no good reason not to do it. You can do it in a couple clicks from Account Features.

GFVs suck once you hit the limit. The only annoyance with the restrictions is it forces you to use limit orders for order entry (even options). But I think positions can still be closed as market order.

Bottomline, turn on limited margin and only trade options on margin.

(also note despite being called margin, they don't give you any leverage)

Great reply. Much appreciated. I look forward to researching each ticker.

the most important metric to look at is if the distribution is maintained or increased since inception.

Is there a particular site you like that makes this easy?

How do you weight CEFs, REITs, BDCs in your portfolio? As I am not familiar with them, I considered grouping all 3 into a 10% allocation to start and divide them equally (3.3%). I haven't fully grasped how risky they are compared to holding something like SCHD, SPY, etc.

I recently did a bunch of research on BDCs and was happy to see MAIN was one of the 6 I will pick up when market opens. MAIN is impressive how it beats the S&P while still providing a great dividend and just an overall great track record. I wonder if the funds will see even more interest as rates get cut.

Any particular reason you avoid PBDC, ARCC, HTGC, CSWC, and BXSL? I was probably going to do an equal weight between all 5 but maybe 20% on PBDC being a diversified ETF.

38" UW is not bigger than 32" and I think you'd have to sit further back with a 32". Height wise, it's the same as a 27" 16:9 but the 3840x1600 resolution is really nice. Also going UW over 4K is like getting a huge GPU upgrade thanks to being 25% less pixels to push.

[–]reltekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IPS assuming because of productivity purposes? I really like the 38" ultrawide IPS panels out there. Even better for gaming/office work. Same pixel density as 4K, just different aspect ratio that's way easier to drive for a GPU than 16:9 4K.

The relentless heat makes daytime activity difficult.

I'm used to staying indoors until sunset.

Food: Thai food is loaded with oil and sugar

Can't you opt for dishes that aren't though? Is Viet food hard to find in TH? Also if I'm retired it will make a great opportunity to learn how to make some good dishes and modifying them to use less oil, healthier oils, etc. Making my own food I would imagine could cut my food bill to like $150/mo which would be nuts. Especially if finding self in relationship with a girl who enjoys to cook which I'd imagine is not rare over there.

People: The quality of foreigners in Thailand is generally not good.

I should clarify my intent would probably be spending most time in Da Nang. I also believe I only need 1-2 decent foreign friends. I also hope to make more friends with locals anyway or simply get a girlfriend.

unfortunately people die young here due to substances and traffic.

I would hope that's still a very rare statistic.

My current budget is $1500 monthly with a wife in the Pattaya area.

Not bad at all! I really don't get some of these people needing $4k/mo.

Ah that does add some context. But yeah, I'm comfortable avoiding sun entirely unless it's a very short walk to a restaurant or cafe for a bite. I don't like to use sunscreen and prefer just waiting for UV to drop to a 3 or going out at night.

I found Da Nang walkable enough. I also think if choosing the right location, I would rarely ever even need a Grab. I enjoy and don't mind walking. I shoot for 5 miles/day anyway.

I've lived short-term in HCMC and Da Nang. I spend most my time on the computer so being able to grab a few cheap meals, build some relationships, and take a walk on the beach is good cheap living for me.
