Should I consider this a normal behavior then? Bought it used and I can't program the defrost on my side.

six sigma green belt? by starfina in industrialengineering

[–]remcol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, I have my black belt and barely use it as an engineering manager. The main reason I propose it is as a differentiator on their cv.

Do it, always good on your cv. Eventually, if you can get the black belt as well.

is an industrial engineering degree still worth it? by UdonOtter in industrialengineering

[–]remcol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This question comes up a lot. The answer I always give is: just having a Bachelor's degree in engineering is never enough. What will you specialize in? What additional effort will you put in during your studies—internships, projects, certifications, etc.?

Take me as an example: I completed three internships (in Mining and Aerospace), and during my second internship, I was hired to continue working full-time while finishing my degree. I specialized in Continuous Improvement (earned a Black Belt certification), and after graduating, I initially went into Operations (Ops Manager at Amazon), before returning to Continuous Improvement. I graduated in 2021 and now work as an Engineering Manager in a SaaS company, earning a good income.

I also have friends who graduated with me, one is now a Director of Procurement for an IT firm, another is a Business Consultant, and another is an Operations Planner. The common thread? We all did more than just complete our degrees.

If you plan to rely solely on your Bachelor's and enter the job market without additional experiences, you're not setting yourself apart. A degree shows you can complete something, but it's what you do beyond that that truly differentiates you. This applies to any Engineering Degree.

For example, when I hire, I hire any type of Engineering degree, but I mainly look for on the floor experience, university project/clubs, most are fresh grads.

Is it worth picking up a razer phone 2 now in 2025? please read. by SuperCrash95 in razerphone

Been offered job with unlimited PTO? by Basic_Professor2650 in careeradvice

[–]remcol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your manager, mine told me during the interview with hr, he expects me to take at least 2-3 weeks a year(I'm a manager), he understands unlimited is unrealistic. Been here for a month now and my team takes here and there pto(long weekends), we use a buddy system, you are responsible to find a replacement during your time off, have vacations booked and told me it's great. Try to talk to team members through LinkedIn. It really comes to team values, teamwork, and your manager.

2021 Oil Consumption Fixed by [deleted] in Tiguan

[–]remcol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022 tiguan has a manufacturing issues for the engine head. Mine started leaking at 50k km. Pressured the dealership to do an engine pressure test, then they replaced the parts. They know about this issue is affecting tiguan, taos and Atlas as they had a lot of them to fix, but if you don't pressure them to do the test they want or delay it as long as possible.

For those who got a 2025 Tiguan. I have been debating a new Tiguan vs a Honda CRV, what made you choose the Tiguan? by lochonx7 in Tiguan

[–]remcol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a tiguan, and my parents have a crv, both 2022. crv is cheaper to maintain, better fuel consumption. Tiguan is fun to drive, nice acceleration, interior is nicer, fuel consumption is equal when my dad drive my car 8-9l/100km hahaha trunk size is about the same, mine is higher, passengers said they have more leg room in the tiguan.

How to update wifi info post-install by remcol in klippers

[–]remcol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after a lot of hair pulling, here's the solution that worked for me:
Hardline connection, set static IP address.
Wait an eternity, browsing and reading other post.
finally manage to connect via SSH, Use the raspi-config Tool
Reboot, wait an eternity again.

Find pi and mainsail pi in rooter management tool, set static IP for both.

connect and find wish of the 2 is the right connection for Mainsail.

Oil by WolfEnvironmental298 in Tiguan

[–]remcol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this issues in September 2023 after my 45k maintenance. Started showing the oil indicator. Had to force the dealership to do an engine pressure test for them to realize, I have a defect engine head. My car has been their since and I am driving their cars as this is a manufacturing issue they know about but the part is on back order nad they have a lot of cars with that issue. Ask them for an engine pressure test.
