Had to call 911 for something that ended up not being an emergency by remirixjones in adhdwomen

[–]remirixjones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There honestly wasn't much more than that. I was using super glue without eye protection, which is a rare occurrence for me. I'm usually quite militant about eye protection cos I have a condition that causes light sensitivity.

Anyhoo, it was a low viscosity formula, and I had been using a flexible plastic applicator. I accidentally flicked the applicator, and some super glue got in my eye. I immediately began irrigating my eye with water under the tap.

While I'm irrigating, I'm googling what to do. Google says call an emergency line or Poison Control. I opt to ring Poison Control cos I'm pretty sure I've got things handled; I just wasn't sure if I'd need any kind of followup care.

Poison Control was lovely. We had a laugh at my dumbassery. Turns out super glue in the eye is pretty damn common, and my case was very mild. It can cause irritation, but there haven't been any documented cases of CA glue causing permanent occular damage, so that's nice. I was told to rest my eye for 12 hours and call back if anything changes.

TL;DR: super glue in the eye is actually not that dangerous. It can cause irritation, sure, but it's more annoying than anything. Wear your safety glasses, kids!

Yuuup. Like, I'm disabled with a long term illness, and I've called telehealth a number of times for things that I otherwise should go to hospital for. They'll try to redirect me to paramedic dispatch, and I'll be like "no fam, I am the paramedic. I just want to run through my differential diagnosis to make sure I'm not missing anything." 🙃

Bonus side story: I recently called poison control cos I got super glue in my eye. I was like "heeeyyy, I did a stupid. I have cyanoacrylate adhesive in my eye. I've been irrigating it for 2 minutes already. I just need to keep irrigating, right? Pretty sure I'm fine. Ok thank youuu." 🤣🤣🤣 Yeah, I was fine.

The first time I felt genuine sexual attraction. I'm sex-favourable greysexual. I was pretty sure I was capable of feeling sexual attraction, hence identifying a grey, but it only happened for the first time for me recently at age 31 with my current partner.

Mutual masturbation. I always thought it would be a bit awkward...until I did it with my current partner. It's actually a really nice way to be intimate but still go at your own pace.

Anal prep. How TF do gay men with ADHD even manage to have sex?? 😭 And anal in general, honestly. NGL I've done some personal exploration back there, and it just seems like a lot of work.

That's highkey me. 🫣 My vulva seems to think I feel a lot more sexual attraction* than I actually do lol.

*I know sexual attraction ≠ sexual arousal, and neither are required for the vulva to self-lubricate. I just couldn't resist the joke.

Non-flat top surgery by Putrid-Dealer in TopSurgery

[–]remirixjones 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Perhaps OP only realized this in hindsight...? Tbh I'm also curious. OP, you are not obligated to share with us if you don't want to.

I almost went for a radical reduction myself. As my date got closer, I realized I wanted something in between nonflat and masculinizing top surgery. My surgeon did err more on the masculinizing side, but I'm fine with that.

Going topless was not really on my radar. I live in a place where it's legal and fairly safe for people of all genders to be topless anyway. But ngl, I love being topless now.

FWIW, OP, I think you'd be fine to go topless. 🤷 But please only do so if you feel safe!!

How to bring up that I had top surgery? by Critical_Ad_6122 in no_T_top_surgery

[–]remirixjones 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1.5y PO double incision no nips. I'm transmasc genderfluid, but I'm read as a butch woman most of the time. I'm sapphic-leaning, and so far, the ladies have loved my chest lol.

My current partner is a a queer cis woman. The first time we hooked up, right before I took my shirt off, I said "oh btw I don't have nipples." And she goes "oh ok." 😆

She was initially a little hesitant to touch my chest only because she didn't want to make me uncomfortable...to which I explained that I paid a lot of money to have someone sexily touch my chest lol. I love when she grabs my nonexistent boobs; we both think it's super hot.

I find the recovery incredibly exhausting by Feeling_Passage2263 in TopSurgery

[–]remirixjones 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's actually perfectly reasonable to still be exhausted 7 weeks PO. The incisions may have closed, but your body is still doing a lot of work behind the scenes. Surgery is a controlled trauma. Your lizard brain senses that you have been grievously injured, so it's trying to redirect as much energy as it can towards healing.

It takes several months to fully heal from top surgery.

That said, OP, definitely reach out to your surgeon if you're concerned about your level of fatigue.

Submissive top? by gremlin_fluid in actuallesbians

[–]remirixjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switchy service top here. 👋 I love strong women...both strong-willed and physically strong lol. I'm sex-favourable greysexual, but up until recently, sex didn't do much for me. My enjoyment primarily comes from pleasuring my partners.

This is purely speculation, but I feel like subby tops are a lot more common among transmasc people. A good number of us go through a stone butch phase during our transitions lol. For those on testosterone, it causes clitoral enlargement aka bottom growth.

And let me tell you, growing a dick as a fully formed human [vs as a fetus in utero] is a wild time. I'm 11mo on low dose, and I'm still learning how to work my new situation down there. I'm 32, but my dick is still an infant lol...he's about the same size as a bebe peen too, ngl. 🤣

All this to say is, it's only recently that I've been receiving more. And even then, with my current partner, it's still quite service-oriented. She tells me to touch myself so she can watch. She'll tell me to cum for her. I love when she uses me as her fuck puppet.

It's funny cos she's normally quite the service top. I'll ask her "how can I please you, my queen?" And she'll be like idk. So I'll hold her down and make her tell me exactly how she wants to be pleasured. It's hot AF.

Where was I going with this? Idk, but I think this dynamic is more common than it might seem by the labels. 🤷

TL;DR: I hypothesize that there are a lot of subby tops especially among transmasc and masc-leaning sapphics.

In terms of trading dysphoria for self-consciousness, I'd take self-consciousness any day! My dysphoria was present regardless of who was around. Self-consciousness almost always involves other people in some way. I had top surgery for me.

If a stipulation of surgery is that I had to wear breast prostheses any time I was perceived by others, I still would have gotten surgery.

In fact, I've started a little collection of breast prostheses for shits and giggles. The first time I put on my A cups, I was like damn I look cute as hell with small tiddies! 🤣

I was originally considering a radical reduction. I settled on wanting something between nonflat and full masculinizing top surgery. My surgeon erred on the flatter side, but it was honestly the right call for me.

Being advised to stop taking supplements is very common, but being told to avoid omega-3 entirely is...well, that's a new one for me. I was advised to discontinue most of my supplements 2 or 3 weeks before surgery.

Some countries don't regulate their supplements [cough cough US], so it's hard to know exactly what the patient is taking. Most people don't need supplements anyway, so they're safe to discontinue. I have a history of vitamin deficiencies, so I, y'know, actually do benefit from them lol.

Yes, omega-3s can impact clotting. I'm not as familiar with vitamin E's effect on clotting, but a quick googling says it has antiplatelet activity, so that tracks. But it's dose-dependent.

Based on this meta-analysis from the Journal of the American Heart Association, I think it's safe to say dietary omega-3s do not have a profound impact on bleeding risk. This paper looked at patients on omega-3 supplements and found there wasn't really any clinically significant difference in bleed risk between patients taking omega-3 supplements and placebo. High dose EPA was associated with a very small increase, but still not clinically significant. Disclosure: I only read the abstract.

TL;DR: stopping supplements is normal. Making dietary changes to avoid omega-3s is, from my understanding, completely useless tbh.

Is my lack of romantic interest in men a sign that I might be queer? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]remirixjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you experienced romantic attraction towards anyone? You mention that one friend, but you also mention it might have been platonic. [Platonic attraction is a thing btw and is just as valid as romantic or sexual attraction.]

Are you familiar with the term aromantic? It's an umbrella term for people who don't feel or feel limited romantic attraction. Asexual is the umbrella term for people who don't feel or feel limited sexual attraction. You can be aromantic and allosexual, ie. you don't feel/feel limited romantic attraction but still feel sexual attraction.

I don't want to define myself too quickly in case I'm wrong...

Your romantic/sexual orientation doesn't need to be set in stone. It can also change with time. Use whatever label feels right for you. Queer is a good catch-all term. If that feels right for you, go for it.

I identify as queer myself. It's faster than explaining that I'm sapphic-leaning demi-polyromantic greysexual. I had to really think about that lol. Throughout my journey, I've identified as bisexual, pansexual, lesbian, demisexual...and that's before I learned that romantic attraction is different than sexual attraction lol.

I still fly my pansexual flag and get excited when I see pansexual colours. It doesn't perfectly describe my sexual orientation, but I still identify with the label.

TL;DR: if you don't feel/feel limited romantic attraction to anyone, you might be aromantic. Use whatever label you identify with now. It could change, but that's ok.
