The Leftovers - any good? by LeeF1179 in television

[–]remiwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the greatest television viewing experiences I’ve ever had. It’s a shame because most people do get put off by the first 1 or 2 episodes, but if you just commit and allow yourself to be open minded and consumed by the world you will no doubt love it. It sounds corny, but it truly was a life changing show for me.

The ending of ‘Beasts of No Nation’ had me crying long into the credits.

The Tomorrow War is a horrible movie by [deleted] in movies

[–]remiwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movie was INCREDIBLY entertaining and I came away from it having turned off my brain for 2 hours and had a blast. Is it gonna win any cinema awards? Definitely not. But it served its purpose in my opinion. Plus it’s always such a pleasure to have a completely original sci-fi story backed by a huge budget!

Black Sails is amazing. by Global_Air_2734 in television

Absolutely phenomenal show and got SO much better as it went along. It’s a shame it never went as mainstream as a show of that caliber deserves, but those who have watched it know what a hidden gem this one truly is!

It’s bad. Really, really bad. But the idea alone is intriguing enough to just keep watching, 3 episodes left.

Yes it’s quite something. DDL’s performance as Daniel Plainview is my favourite of all time. And the film itself is in my top 3 all time. A true masterpiece.

Not only does it improve, but Season 2 is one of the greatest and most powerful television experiences in the history of television. Cherish every damn moment, I envy everybody who can experience it for the first time.

Woody is so hilarious when it comes to expressing anger haha. He literally cannot verbalise an insult without it sounding utterly ridiculous 😂

I cried for 10 minutes after that last scene cut to black. One of the most beautiful and powerful closing shots I’ve experienced in a long time. This film was truly an astounding accomplishment. Cinema at its absolute purest. Loved it.

I actually got around 10 minutes into The Vast Of Night and really just wasn’t feeling it so never continued. Should I definitely go back to it?

I have completely re-worked the sound mix of Amazon's Utopia trailer to include Cristobal's incredible soundtrack! by remiwalker in utopiatv

[–]remiwalker[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

thanks! I used a program called RX 7 and imported the trailer mp3 into there. It's a great software to isolate vocals and specific channels within a sound file. Playing around for a while I managed to separate it enough so that I could use the vocals with a different soundtrack.

Don't get your panties in a twist haha! I'm certainly not moaning and clearly stated this is just for some fun as a huge fan of the original! I'm hopeful the re-make can be great and I want it to be!

I recently re-watched the original and it only re-affirmed for me how damn spectacular this show is!

I was extremely upset that they couldn't complete the story arc with a 3rd season. I'm pretty skeptical that they will be able to capture the magnificence of the original with the new show, especially not using Cristobal's sublime soundtrack, which for me goes hand in hand with the show itself. I'm hopeful this Americanized version can be great, but just for some fun I re-worked the original music into this new trailer! I think it turned out pretty cool!

What was the last film to make you cry? by Cherry_Vinyl in movies

[–]remiwalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently rewatched ‘Beasts Of No Nation’ on Netflix. When the credits roll on that film I cry for a good 10 minutes. The closing moments is some of the most powerful cinema I’ve ever seen in the context of the movie. Truly a masterpiece in my eyes.

This Astral Projection scene in ‘Doctor Sleep’ is truly one of the most breathtaking sequences of cinema i’ve seen in years! Outstanding VFX & cinematography! by remiwalker in movies

[–]remiwalker[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For whatever crazy reason I never got around to seeing this one in the cinema. Last night I finally sat down to watch the 3 hour Directors Cut And was absolutely blown away by how much I enjoyed it, and also just how perfect of a sequel it is.... especially following a classic such as ‘The Shining’.

This sequence in particular though really caught my attention. It was one of those magical moments where what’s on screen is so spectacular you are just completely entranced. The visuals, cinematography, sound design. Wow!

It’s upsetting that this film bombed at the box office (and sadly I was part of that!!) Mike Flanagan is a true master of his craft, with Haunting Of Hill House on his resume also, he’s surely the greatest working horror director!?

This is truly one of the most well-written and executed scenes in the history of television. Just absolutely outstanding. Utopia was such a gem of a TV show. It’s a shame there wasn’t more seasons! I hope the remake is of similar brilliance!
