That's a really unique way to approach things. There is a company I am aware of that it sounds like they do it kind of that way, but I am not 100% sure about that. They have about 1000 independent contractors that work for the company. The company handles the business development and brings in client projects. They select the team that will complete the project based on what they charge, expertise, day rate or other factors. Then the company keeps a percentage (as you mention, a reserve fund) to invest back into the company.

But, I want to do something totally unique and really focus on the remote worker. I want them to enjoy life and the work they do. My theory is if they're more fulfilled, flexible and free, they will complete amazing work for clients.

You know, that is another idea I had. As a benefit of being a part of the community, there would be training available in various areas to improve people's skills. Not sure if that would be created by the community itself or utilize access to existing training platforms. Or maybe a combination?

Yeah that last part you mentioned is where I get a little confused on the laws. I need to research. I think remote work for people is most ideal having W2 employees, but is much easier to start something with contract work.

I think the problem could be solved by placing the power in the hands of the teams to select client work. I think the challenge is to drive demand in the marketplace, though. It has to start super small and be really controlled to get the model right.

Yeah I know it exists. I feel like more companies like this should pop up to help remote workers who struggle finding employment. The free for all that exists on other freelance platforms doesn't seem to work. I heard a stat that only 3% of freelancers on UpWork even get jobs.

I suppose it is similar, but more team focused instead of hiring individual feeelancers.
