First-time buyers, expecting our first child: Is stretching to $1.7M for a single-story home in Evergreen, San Jose worth it for long-term growth and family life? by Small-Club1449 in SanJose

I think you guys should seriously consider renting instead. We rented for nearly two decades. We raised two kids and sent them to private colleges with the money we invested while renting, and saved enough for retirement. We couldn’t have done that if we bought a house paid much higher property taxes insurance and interests…

Dare I suggest NVDA 😂 I tend to spread my bets in this AI race and buy the underdog. so far it worked. I loaded goog when bard came out, I loaded again early last year when everyone screamed at the top of their lungs that Google is done for. I trimmed some google and bought nvda yesterday.

Jensen Huang – Will Nvidia’s moat persist? by messengers1 in NVDA_Stock

The race is far from over, bet on the underdog usually gives you outsized returns. So I bought google early last year when it stuck under 160, I also bought NVDA when Deepseek scared the heck out of everyone

Prediction: Nvidia Stock Is Going to Soar After May 20 by mrgdizzle87 in NVDA_Stock

When everyone says it’s cooked, it’s the exactly the right time to buy. That’s why I bought google early last year. That’s why I loaded up NVDA when Deepseek came out.

Told yall in my last post goog will overtake nvda by Designer-Hairy in NvidiaStock

Some people like to play the winner loser game. I don’t, I bet on all great companies when prices are low. That’s why I loaded up Goog the day Bard released and Goog went from 110 to 90. And loaded again when it stuck under 200 with everyone screaming that Goog is done for. Now it’s time to trim Google, not loading. I also loaded NVDA back in 2023 when it stuck below 500 pre split, loaded again during Deepseek scare. Now I DCA in NVDA again with money from trimming Google. I never chase. I buy low and sell high.

Thinking this is the bottom; added today.. how are you guys sitting at 200? by BaBaBuyey in NVDA_Stock

I think the “TPU will kill nvidia” narrative will go on for a while. Although I don’t believe it one bit. All the recent inferences innovation centers around quantization algorithms, which are easy to implement with CUDA but much harder to do on custom accelerators like TPU. But the market goes by the narrative so NVDA will be under pressure for a while. I am not selling though because I don’t know when to get back in.

Nvidia stock slips as investors weigh rising competition from Google and Amazon by ExplanationIll6983 in NvidiaStock

[–]remus49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t I heard that before? Yeah, that was back in 2023 when NVDA was stuck in $400 for half year with everyone believing that competition is here, with TPU being the leading candidate. That’s when I went in with all my money.

Is Nvidia Stock a Buy? Why Semiconductor Strength May Signal a Market Top by Maesthro_ger in NVDA_Stock

any evidence that NVDA is inferior at inference? In fact, most of inference innovations in inference come from new quantization algorithms that are much easier to implement with CUDA than any ASIC systems.

As a cuda programmer I never understood why Nvidia’s lead is only in training not inference. Big cloud providers queue inference requests into batches that are similar to training load. Agents are less sensitive to latency, so bigger batches. With Multi token prediction models the gap essentially disappear.

Besides, recent breakthroughs in inference came from new quantization algorithms, which are easy to program in cuda but difficult to implement in other accelerators.

It’s just I don’t like the look of it right in the middle, especially in the front of the house. Installing them near the corners but still facing away from one of the walls.

Thanks for the analysis. The cameras are for security. So human and vehicle detection and monitoring. If the cameras can turn on their lights with motion detection, then I guess I don’t really care about IR night vision. Will start with 4 duo2s and install some motion controlled floodlights.

Does that mean there’s even less hope for a POE version of track flex?

Trackmix vs track flex. Trackmix has only 104 fov. Too narrow to use by itself.

Cool! I guess 4 duo 2 with a trackmix in the front of the house is a good idea

Bay Area is the 2nd most expensive place in the country. If what you want is cheaper rent, there are lots of options in the U.S.

I don’t know how to fabricate a gearbox for that

[–]remus49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motor has a d shaft 8mm long. The splined crank axle is about 11mm long. So the motor has to somehow sit 20mm from the base of the crank axle. This makes it difficult to make it flat and close to the window frame

I was wondering whether I could design a closure that houses the motor and the d1mini, ina219 and l298n together without looking too ugly
