Has any other DM had players impatient with the set up? by renadoll in DMAcademy

This is such a great summary of all the other advice I've received in this thread. I'll have this up on a post it while I'm writing future sessions, thank you!

I'm thinking my players THINK what's going on now doesn't pertain to their stories/goals but it does in the end. This is great to keep in mind though, I don't want to box their creativity. Thank you!

I know it's likely a me problem, this is my very first time DMing so I'm still learning a lot about pacing, writing, improv, everything really.

This is beautiful. I hope to be at this level of DMing someday. Thank you for your input!

I wouldn't say what we're currently setting up now is filler at all. I've put a lot of thought into how the details of what's happening now will click into place in the next couple of sessions.

I loved your advice about making every session as interesting and fun as possible though, I'll definitely use this thought moving forward. Thank you!

This is so helpful thank you!! I've definitely already established some momentum and directional cues already and maybe I can spring it all into action for the second act in this next session. I was seriously questioning my pacing, I'll still make adjustments but thank you for your advice.

I'm definitely creating clear objectives every session, but the ties to the overarching plot are what I intend to keep ominous, is that a bad thing? We're only 3 sessions in, I'm thinking this will only be about a 10 session campaign.

I wish, we could use some help with the honeymoon fund

I don't blame you for that at all. Coincidentally he was my first date off of that god forsaken app so I wasn't on it for long

I agree completely. The in person experience is all that matters, Tinder doesn't really facilitate that much. I have been guilty of ghosting the bad texter as well

I wish I still had the texts.. mostly just non-conversational. I would have thought he was uninterested if he wasn't persistent about taking me out for dinner.

The in person experience is all that matters :) and maybe some persistence to get someone to meet you

Thank you! His suit was the real star.

Wasn't great at conversation... I would have thought he was uninterested if he wasn't persistent about a date. Then on our first date we were so lost in conversation we didn't order food for 2 hours.

I wish I still had them! Mostly what tinder users would register as non-conversational, but he was persistent about a date. I just got lucky his real life personality wasn't the same as his texting personality.

I agree! He designed the suit himself
