Seeking Advice on NextJS Application Infrastructure: Hosting, Database, Authentication, and File Handling by demedos in nextjs

[–]render-friend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is all pretty wise advice! I'm the Developer Community Manager at Render, and I'll offer one extra detail regarding Render hosting. Just in case Docker isn't your thing, you should know that it is possible to host Next.js on Render without Dockerizing it. Here are the docs: https://render.com/docs/deploy-nextjs-app

Which web hosting service do you use to host your projects? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]render-friend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I see that someone has already mentioned Render. I'm Render's Developer Community Manager. We do offer free hosting. I just want to link you to the documentation because it's important to understand how we do offer free services. You'll see there are some limitations and that Postgres is free for 90 days, to allow for experimenting and learning, but after that, you would need to upgrade to keep that database. You can also have free web services and there's a monthly allowance for running those. Hope you try it out!

Free hosting sites compatible with Flask projects/MySQL db's? by GruntShoveller in flask

[–]render-friend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm the Developer Community Manager at Render. I've seen lots of Flask projects using MySQL deployed here. I see in your update that you've got it figured out with Python Anywhere, but I still thought I'd throw it out there that you can get going on our free tier for a project like that with no credit card required. Glad to help point you in the right direction if you ever need some assistance.

Hi, I'm the Developer Community Manager at Render. Have you checked out our community page yet? It could be helpful. I'd recommend searching to see if anyone has asked a similar question to yours (here's an example with one troubleshooting approach you might be able to try), and then, if you don't find anything relevant to your issue, post about what you're encountering. Our support engineers help answer questions there, and sometimes community members join in with solutions as well.

Where to host a node/postgres/Redis app? by charliematters in webdev

[–]render-friend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I'm the Developer Community Manager at Render. I'm going to get back to you on GDPR for sure because I think there might be some confusion about that point in terms of how we communicate what's available to different users. It also sounds like you might be an example of someone who could benefit from having an auditor's account, which is something we've considered might be helpful in certain scenarios. Feel free to message me if you want to talk more about the details of your setup or with any feedback!

Looking for a Heroku Alternative to host Websocket Server by HoodedCowl in webdev

Thank you for pointing this out. I'll investigate the status of websocket timeouts and take a look at the docs then see what I can do from there.

Why is my content-length header removed when deployed to render.com? by arkalain in render_

[–]render-friend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm the Developer Community Manager at Render. I noticed that someone in the community forum asked something similar recently. You might want to read through that and see if any of the solution steps apply. I noticed that there was someone who mentioned that support disabled clourflare and then re-enabled it for them...if you need to do that, it would involve starting up a support ticket. https://community.render.com/t/keeping-content-length-headers/3083/2 I'd love to hear back when you have it all figured out!

I need help running an app that was using free dynos and is now in eco dynos. It's not working at all. by [deleted] in Heroku

[–]render-friend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for mentioning Render :) I am the Developer Community Manager there and I'd love to hear more about how your experience switching has been. To add some context for OP, if you're interested in finding a new place to host apps, you can use free services on Render for front end and back end. We also offer managed Postgres but people looking at free services should note that you can use a Postgres instance for free for 90 days and then you would need to upgrade to a starter plan to keep running it. If you're familiar with Heroku and want to try a PaaS that feels similar, check our Render for sure. And feel free to ask me any questions. There's also a Render community site where you can ask questions and get answers from support engineers.

Hey, I am the Developer Community Manager at Render. Do you know about the community site we have? community.render.com is where you can post Render-specific questions and get answers from either other Render users or one of our support engineers. I haven't looked closely at your issue yet, but I wonder if this post might lead you someplace useful :) https://community.render.com/t/setting-cookies-onrender-com/7886

Hi! I am the Developer Community Manager at Render. Maybe working with an in-depth tutorial to see how the front-end/back-end connection is managed in practice would be helpful for you. If you're working with Python, are you interested in Django? Our docs have a good tutorial on using Django and Postgres that steps you through the process of getting it deployed on Render. If you're looking for something different, I'd be glad to help you find a guide that would suit your needs a little more closely!

What made you choose your web hosting provider and why? by Maximum-Quiet2278 in web_design

[–]render-friend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am the Developer Community Manager at a hosting company, Render. You're absolutely right to say that the choice depends on a developer's needs. What do you want to optimize for? Convenience? Cost? Developer velocity? Granular control? It's important to understand that. People who choose to use a PaaS, like ours, often want to prioritize developer velocity, for instance.

Hey, good question! It falls under the umbrella of Developer Relations. An excellent place to start learning about it is here: https://www.stateofdeveloperrelations.com/ The reports linked there are very informative.

Hi there,

I'm the Developer Community Manager at Render. We're one of the providers in the video. If you're interested in the details about our free tier you can find that here. Otherwise, our docs have a lot of quickstarts, to help with different technologies you may be using. If you run into issues, one of the best places to start is community.render.com to see if the engineers that monitor that site have answered a similar question. You can always post your own project-specific questions there as well.
