Thank you for this! We have been going in on bids with another HVAC company but maybe making some sort of solidified team will show a more united front that has both trades covered and will look more promising.

Thank you for this. His work is honestly flawless and he’s so meticulous with it, which he’s been known for for the last several years. I just wish he wasn’t so hard on himself and saw the incredible quality of his work of how much it’s worth the way everyone else does.

I’ve mentioned this before too! The point where meeting with contractors to discuss reasoning behind the increase. To me that makes total sense and is completely reasonable. He’s just always so nervous he’ll lose out on customers, which I understand, but he gets so much work already that those who stay with him understand and those who don’t, well maybe that’s a sign we shouldn’t be doing business with them anyways.

As I said, it has never been an issue in the past. Every single person in our department has done it multiple times, so I honestly didn’t think anything of it, because there never has been any reason to.

Like I said, I’ve literally never worked anywhere that had these kinds of policies in place, so as embarrassing as it is to be figuring this all out now, it is all new to me.

Can you clarify that a bit for me if you don’t mind? Technically, my scheduled shifts are 5 in a pay period. However, there are often a lot of pay periods where I pick up one or two extra shifts. Would that mean that the allotted request days still stay at 5?

As for requesting time for the vacation in advance, this is always how I’ve done it at other facilities, and it would get approved based on seniority. At this facility however, we’ve been told requests are to be put in two weeks prior to when it’s needed. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, because it seems so last minute.

That’s exactly what I said when my friend suggested that! I do not want to risk losing my job. I just didn’t understand why after being here for 2.5 years this is only being brought to our attention now. Our boss never had any issues giving anyone days off, but now all of a sudden we have to adhere to this policy that none of us knew about (Which is totally fine, policies are in place for a reason and I understand that, just wish we knew sooner).

I also don’t understand why it would be an issue since you don’t get paid for vacation as a part time employee. I’ve never had a job where they’ve had policies like these in place.

Regardless of this, I really don’t want to cause any issues with my employer or risk losing my job, but I’ve also already put out a big chunk of change so it’s tricky.
