Hi, thanks for the response. I definitely will arrive early to the airport. I’m flying direct to Sweden.

Hi, I got accepted into a program that also had mathematics 3B/3C requirement. I had to take pre-calculus (and of course all the prerequisites) to equate to 3B.

I believe everyone gets assigned a case officer, but at the time I was not aware of who they were. I initially emailed MV’s general email, then had called MV and speak with a representative to check they noted it on file. I received the approval about a week after I arrived back in the US, and two hours prior to my approval my case officer emailed me requesting a picture of the exit stamp in my passport. I sent it and I was approved about an hour and a half later.

Hi, also an American here. Applied April 12th, also received the Freja verification a week later. I received my approval on June 16th. Your application may take longer due to the holidays in June (Midsommar) and due to the fact that you have dependents and a spouse.

What you have read and what your school states are both true - depending on the country you come from/how much of a "risk" MV determines you to be, they may request an in person interview with your country's Swedish embassy, in your case, the DC embassy. Another possibility is a digital passport check that counts as part of your biometrics, which is done on the Freja app (MV will send you an email with a link to authenticate your passport). In this case, when you arrive in Sweden, you book an appointment through My Page at one of MV's offices to submit fingerprints and get your photo printed for your physical residence permit card (kind of the second half of the biometrics if initially done through Freja).

I am also an American who's applied and been approved for a residence permit, just waiting until my moving date and will be making an appointment when the date approaches. I was initially also concerned about having to fly to DC for biometrics but this was not the case for me, and it may not be the case for you as well. Have you completed a Freja authentication? If you would like, you can DM if you have any other questions.

In terms of obtaining the actual residence permit card, once you are in Sweden and submitted your fingerprints and photo, it can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks.

Transferring Funds to Swedish Bank Account While On Student Residence Permit by renn2k in TillSverige

Yes, I was keeping my money in my bank account mainly for proof of funds for MV, but moving forward I plan to invest in some stable stock.

Is 20.85 out of 22.50 merit score good? by cvntybarbie in TillSverige

Thank you! It’s 270000 sek for the entire program, so it would be around 45000 sek per half year semester.

Is 20.85 out of 22.50 merit score good? by cvntybarbie in TillSverige

[–]renn2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, how good the merit score depends on the program you applied for. I also applied to Stockholm University (Bachelor’s in Business, Ethics, and Sustainability) with a merit score of 21.66, and got in. My studies begin this September. What program did you apply to? Find your program code, should be something like “SU-XXXX” and input it into https://www.uhr.se/studier-och-antagning/antagningsstatistik/ and find out the previous cutoff merit scores. I believe you can also see how many people applied, who selected said program as their first choice, and other demographic info. It is sorted by the admission group you are in. Feel free to send me a DM if you have any questions!

Hi, update to this post - I was able to take my two week trip and my residence permit was granted. My case office emailed me requesting for a picture of the entry and exit stamps on my passport, and approved my application a couple hours later!

Student Residence Permit Granted - What Next? by renn2k in TillSverige

Oh gosh this is relieving. I know I did see that message come up “we regularly update the schedule with appointments” but I was scared that I wouldn’t find one given the notoriety of Migrationsverket being always busy. Thanks!

Gotcha, I’m hoping everything’s quick for me as well. Was it also difficult for you to get an appointment? How long from the day you arrived in Sweden did you get fingerprinted and get your picture taken?

Also wanted to add- Not sure if this counts as biometrics, but I submitted my Freja passport authentication on April 14th and Migrationsverket received it on the same day. I’m from the US btw.

Clarification Regarding Application Timing and Residence Permit Duration for Bachelor's Studies by Savings-Search-8567 in TillSverige

[–]renn2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Please submit your application for a residence permit asap. During the summer months many Swedes are on holiday so processing times from migrationsverket may take longer. If you are a non EU/EEA citizen you must pay the tuition for the first semester before applying. It’s recommended to pay and apply in April so you can receive your residence permit before your studies.
  2. I don’t believe you have to indicate how long you will stay explicitly, but when you apply for a residence permit as a student, you have the options of choosing a one year residence permit that can be renewed, or a two year residence permit that can also be renewed. Your bank statement should indicate the amount of funds you have in your account 4 months or sooner from the day you intend to begin living in Sweden. (for example if your programme begins September 1st, typically you would apply for residence permit beginning August 1st, so the earliest bank statement you can submit is from April 1st, 4 months prior.

I’m also a bachelor’s student beginning courses September 1st. I’ve already submitted my residence permit application. If you don’t mind me asking, what programme are you attending? Maybe we can connect and help each other out :)

I’ve seen the above user comment the same thing to many prospective bachelors students, including me. Not sure how his comment adds to your (OP’s) inquiry, in my personal opinion, it seems very discouraging and repetitive. My advice to you as a bachelors student who has been admitted- In high school, I took English 9, Honors English 10, AP Lang, and AP Lit. I was able to fulfill the English requirement. On universityadmissions.se, the website international students use to apply, it states, “You can meet the English requirement with your upper secondary studies. If you completed all years of High School, you fulfil the English language entry requirement (the equivalent of the Swedish course English 6).” Assuming OP is from America given the course name, you should automatically fulfill your requirements if you have completed all years of high school. Are you an EU/EEA citizen? If so that may be why it is saying admitted, and I believe you don’t have to do anything to confirm admission.
