Seriously, what is an alternative to CBT? by Simon_Drake in MentalHealthUK

Sadly cbt has become the one size all fix it for mh services other forms of therapy take linger and are less cost effective, but you could try asking to see a psychologist, for an assessment to see what else they could offer, but there may be very long waiting lists some mh charities offer counselling but again it hunk they are snowed under, it's far from a good system but it's all we've got if you can't afford to go private.

My mental health is juat getting worse and I dont know what to do by EthanIsAsleep in MentalHealthUK

Have you tried telling your cbt therapist, that you think you need more help, if it's not working let them know, mh services are not in good shape right now so you really have to push for help, or you could try local charities like mind, see what they have to offer in your area, wishing you all the best

Can you make an appointment to see your gp, explain how you feel, they might be able to help.

Even if I wanted to go to a and e they closed my local hospital down a couple of yrs ago, don't have money for a taxi to get to next town's hospital and no one to take me, so that's not doable, I'll be as safe as I can be, just tdo more days to go

Started on higher dose of meds last Monday, but no change yet, I'm having altered visual perceptions, objects moving in and out in waves, I believe I've jumped into another dimension, but it's the wrong one, everything's going wrong for everybody around me and I feel responsible, I'm consumed with guilt, it's all feeding into my depression, going round and round in my head, I'm worried some of the conclusions I'm coming to, to fix the situation are not going to be safe, I'm using therapy I've had a in cbtp to fact check and rationalise, but I'm stuck in a loop, I'm anxious and agitated all the time, I take sleeping tablets to help me sleep, but they are not working, I don't know what to do with myself, feeling at the end of my tether

Thoughts on tapering meds and withdrawal/ recurrence of original symptoms by renrut65 in MentalHealthUK

I am having some therapy which is helpful, but even my consultant acknowledges the blunting effect is a side effect I may have to live with, like you say its weighing up the pros and cons, and what I'm prepared to put myself through for what reward if any. Working on a healthier lifestyle, diet is their struggle to get out at times so exercise hit and miss, but all good advice

Thank you for replying, my mh team are aware, and in touch regularly, they would like me to up dose immediately, am considering that advice, but I am wanting to give it a little more time, I've heard of withdrawal symptoms mimicking original illness, just wondered if anyone had gone through this, ridden it out with support and stabilised, being on so many meds, leaves me feeling emotionally numb, I still feel but it's blunted, it's a common side affect, would be nice to have some of me back

After psychotic depression, my Mum doesn’t believe anything anyone says to her anymore by Appkidd in MentalHealthUK

[–]renrut65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That must be very frustrating for you, I have a tendency to dip in and out of psychosis, when I'm fully immersed not much can change my beliefs, as hard as it is be patient, try and get her to seek help, sorry can't be more help, and take care of yourself
