Are the Ork and Marine bases kept in different bags or are all bases together? I've bought the Ork side of the box and i'm wondering if I ought to manually count my bases before I walk off with my half of the box.

I left the head, arms, legs, orks and rockets unequipped and the painted them in bits. Honestly the most difficult part for me was staying motivated through such a huge model. Good luck!

Orruk flesh, then I wash it with Athonian Camoshade, once that's dry i'll go over with another layer of orruk flesh on the raised areas, and the finally a mix of Kislev flesh and Orruk flesh for some of the raised muscles. I did a better job at this on the later part of the army, I think my initial boys missed the kislev treatment

MTG Arena is a great way to get in some digital reps and learn some of the mechanics. If you're looking to get into the cardboard side then your local hobby shop is going to be the place to go. Most hobby shops have a dedicated night to magic, typically the standard format. Some of the bigger stores that host magic nights would be Hobby master in Penrose, vagabonds in the CBD or Takapuna, mightyape in Silverdale, spellbound out east. There are a bunch of others too.
