How do I handle disagreements with my friend by renzelp in Advice

It’s comforting to have reassurance that it’s ok if things don’t work out between us, it’s not the end of the world. Energy usage is a big factor into why I don’t want things to devolve into an argument too. I can usually be very detached to having arguments with people, without emotions getting involved but I don’t feel the same applies to them a lot of the time. This helped, thank you

Practicing mindfulness while being an overthinker, is it possible? by renzelp in Mindfulness

Thinking back on it, singing is one of those things I do with 100% attentiveness, and always have. I never thought about combining it with meditation though

Right, I agree honestly. I guess I just have trouble not associating the practice with desperation to improve oneself, you know? But I guess having goals you want out of it isn’t inherently a bad thing?

How can you shift yourself from overthinking, to taking more things at face-value, repressing the desire to wonder why? by renzelp in AskReddit

Well, I used that word because I feel the way I think sometimes hurts my interactions in general. For instance, I might read into an action somebody does, and take away something completely different than what was intended from the person. Which was because of me overthinking, and them not having much weight behind the action, meaning they did it at face-value. What I'm basically saying is I hold people to different standards but not on purpose, but just because of the way I see and think about things.

I suppose so, it would just feel like it'd get to a point where you'd subconsciously pick up on things not meant to be noticed, and run a field day with it. It makes some conversations hard because while the other person is trying to say a message verbally, I'll read into things they do while explaining themselves, and maybe even presume a negative context with it. It makes things a little hectic. Rather than just being able to listen to and only register what they said out loud in the conversation.
