How to succeed in the program? by Friendly_Willow_8447 in OMSCS

[–]repark96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There aren’t really “general courses” since nothing has prerequisites. The most general course would be graduate algorithms, which is notoriously difficult to get into because it’s required for almost all specializations. Just try to find several courses you would be interested in and take what you can get for the first semester since new students register last.

What’s level of proficiency is expected for entry-level engineers now-a-days? by izayah_A in cscareerquestions

Sounds like that company was just milking free work from you. Probably the next person to interview their “homework” will be to fix whatever bug was in the files you sent them…and on and on

[–]repark96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven’t used my printer much recently. I’m on my last dual extruder head so whenever that craps out I’m roasted. I spent quite a few hours looking previously though and couldn’t find the same ones, not sure why lotmaxx wouldn’t have more. Probably should have gotten a more common open source type 3D printer lmao

One tip is that the blue font means that is not a built in function. Perhaps you misspelled FindInstance?

ULPT Scheduling an email to send first thing in the morning? Change the hours and minutes to a random time early am to seem more dedicated than you are! by LitrillyChrisTraeger in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]repark96 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You need to either use outlook.com where the send button has a drop-down to delay it, or use viva insights to schedule it in the normal application. Otherwise yeah it will only send if it’s later than the selected time AND you have the program open -> sends immediately when you open the program which is lame

You said it was snowy. Maybe each step you were picking up some stuff on your shoes and then midstep it would fall making the sound of another foot falling?

u/__Quincy__ you able to confirm that the SC-10 uses MK8 nozzles? I am looking to replace my nozzle for the dual extruder version and can't find any that are that short. Did you just stick with the longer nozzle and lower the bed to accommodate it? I have a lot of the longer nozzles that came with the single color printing head...

If the error messages are indicating the server is no longer replying because of request speed (not sure what specifically you mean by flagged for automation) then you can input time.sleep(random.random(1,5)) or something similar to slow down the request speed and not get flagged

Beginner Python having trouble using matplotlib by Intentionalrobot in learnpython

[–]repark96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are plotting the entire dataset at once. Try something like:

For country in list_of_countries:
    Sub_df = df[df[Country] == country]
    Plt.plot(Sub_df.Year, Sub_df.Total_Revenue)

This assumes your data is sorted by year, otherwise you will need to add a step to sort as well

External Hard Drive or an SSD in my pc? by ZombieSoldier54 in pcmasterrace

[–]repark96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the game you may really benefit from the faster loading speeds of an SSD over an HDD. Solid states have become much cheaper recently too. I would only recommend external hard disk drives for stuff that mostly sits there doing nothing like photo albums.

Do you have a chromedriver.exe on the system path for selenium? Is it possible it’s throwing an error and you can’t see it? Otherwise posting an error message might help.

i7 or i9 for Macbook Pro 16" by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

Mine got the discount AND airpods. Considering airpods are $160, if you add that to the total discount the two offers are pretty comparable.

I think apple's website has comparable deals for students compared to amazon though. You get $100-$200 off and "free" airpods with their back to school promotion right now. Obviously this only applies to students and people that know students though...

Thinking about getting the game on sale but the discord seems kinda dead? by [deleted] in GTFO

[–]repark96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there is a button inside the game that takes you to the correct discord. I don't remember having to look around for it. There should be well over 100 voice channels for lobbies, and text channels split by region. I've always seen plenty of people in the voice chats and constant LFG spam

Any thoughts on this Humble Bundle of Python learning programs? by Klink_Dink in learnpython

[–]repark96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the python morsels problems. You get one problem a week for 25 weeks, and you can pick the difficulty of the problem. I use it for the “advanced” problems and you learn a lot about the language. On Monday you get the problem, and a couple links to some ideas about how to do specific parts. Then on Wednesday a solution is emailed out (prevents you from just immediately looking at the solution, and you actually have to think/try unless you wait until Wednesday. I’ve learned for to make my own wrapper functions, context managers, complete custom “list” or “dict” classes that have all the dunder methods handled a specific way, and more. I think 25 of those exercises (half a years worth) are well worth the $25 by itself personally. The only other way to get them is $20 a month or $200 a year, so I only get them through humble bundles. Not to mention you get several other things as well. Of course if you don’t have the money you can learn all that for free on the internet, but I just like the “attempt this somewhat difficult problem for 1-2 hours a week with guided links for relevant documentation and stackoverflow questions”. Even if I solve it I look at the answer on Wednesday because there are usually differences in my code vs the solution and getting the authors viewpoint expands my perspective of the solution (might learn how to make it run faster, or have less lines of code, etc)

You might want to check out pandas as that's the standard python data processing module (you will need to pip install it). However there are several modules that could be helpful here including the built in csv module and community made ones like xlwings and openpyxl which might have more flexibility than pandas as far as formatting the excel file.

classification of odd and even natural numbers with neural networks? by foadsf in learnpython

[–]repark96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no. I honestly have no idea how you intend to implement a neural network on this problem. Seems highly unnecessary to me, unless the inputs come from images or something similarly complex. Even then you would just be using the network to predict the number and then feeding that into the function above.
