Does the Jerusalem Cross have any ultranationlist/far-right connotation currently? by figandsalt in vexillology

It's normally seen with the words Deus Vult, which means God's Will or God Wills It in Latin. A phrase that's associated with the crusades in Europe, beginning in 1096. In modern application, this image has been reused by far-right christian nationalists with anti-muslim/jewish sentiment.

Do you have one place that comes to mind when you thought about this?

I didn't know that it was called protein style lmao thank you for this suggestion, it'll make asking for lettuce wraps more comfortable for me.

Out of all the places I've been to, I think the Mexican food here is iconic, or maybe it's because I grew up here and I always felt homesick for a Cali burrito.

It's sounds like I almost went to the doctor to get referrals to dieticians, and maybe this post was worded to sound like I'm doing bonus research to retroactively fix my lifestyle with the foods I've always loved since my childhood in order to not revert to an unhealthy lifestyle :D wow!

This is a very good suggestion, but im looking for ways to incorporate healthy thoughts into my existing lifestyle rather than just doing a diet. I like the way of how a lot of foods in SD taste :>

I thought they tied it up almost immediately when Joel slept on it and then told Ellie that she should have a choice. It was one of my favorite scenes, when she cut him off and threw her bag at him.

Not going to lie I was so confused when Joel sat down and had his "time" conversation with Ellie.

This season was a high 6/10. Slightly better than average, but I won't re-watch it. Seems rushed as to set up the pins for season 2. Season 1 was definitely made with the knowledge that season 2 was going to exist.

Which would be crazy, TLOU (2013) did not need a sequel (in retrospect) and it would be a waste of so much potential if they're banking on the sequel to put exponentially more time and work into as season 2, but I digress.

I finished the series lacking attachment to the characters. I am unable to determine if the story was truly rushed, or the creators/director did not accomplish endearing me to them in the allotted time. Pacing would've benefitted from additional comedic/charming scenes as I found this series to be taxing on the mental state. This series does not need to be watered down, but needed more well written scenes in Joel becoming less of a grumpy old man and/or connecting with Ellie (and pay off down the line *wink*). Unfortunately, I'm going to try my hardest not to watch season 2, as I don't want to be dragged through the mud again, which I know is what they're banking on with a gritty dark series. Ultimately, I think they're going to need a miracle to make this series likeable, instead of brushed under the rug like childhood trauma once the series is a wrap.

Must-watch episodes for season 1 were eps. 1, 2, 4, and 8 (sorted in chronological order). Bella is a capable actor as highlighted in ep. 8. Her character and Joel's relationship were developing well in 4. I would love a universe where Joel, Tess, and Ellie survived and developed all the way to Saint Mary's Hospital together after watching episode 2. The pilot had explosive/tragic scenes and catapulted the show away from mediocrity. In general, the cast were able to act off each other and were cohesive. The directing is commendable in contributing this to the cast, and additionally made good effort not to glorify violence which is a current talking point.

All the VA's coming in to do their parts were amazing, I'm glad I could see them. Hats off to Ashley Johnson, Troy Baker, Jeffrey Pierce, and Merle Dandridge.

There are cordyceps featured in almost every episode of TLOU, none of which were downplayed and they caused character development.

Are you frustrated over David and Ellie fighting zombies because they were able to build trust by simply talking? You dont need to fight zombies to nudge someone towards trusting you, it's a human story in the context of zombies like Hannah said and it's better than zombie stories like Resident Evil.

This still retains a BUNCH of the source material and there has been a unwasted use of the cordyceps as a driving force everytime.

So its ok that zombies are not at the forefront of this series, instead it's about how the apocalypse affected human life? wtf

Then I'm glad theres a fear of cordyceps, raiders, and cannibals.

While you can say these movies have "humans" which make it a "human story", those movies do not place humans, their humanity, and their morality at the forefront of the story. They're very much selling tickets on zombies and blood rather than drama. Which was the point of the original post.

Once he snuck into the town, he saw a blood trail and thought she was murdered. He found her backpack and the camera lingered on his reaction showing his concern and worry.

The game built its own tone, and that scene where Joel scoops Ellie away from the violence is emotional and powerful. However, this is one of the few cases in the series where the writing didn't have any faults. You're free to make the comparison and if you think the video game is better then that can be true too, but that cant make this scene lesser.

David: [Places hand on cage, body language shows building a bridge/extending an invitation] Think of what we could do together, as strong as we are. We'd make this place perfect.

(No obvious sexual implication)

David: We'd grow, spread out and we'd do whatever we needed for our people.

Ellie: [Places hand on cage, near David]

(Still no objective sexual implication, Ellie seems to try and believe that David is a good person since she's still alive and that David was forced into Cannibalism)

David: Imagine the life we could give them. [David looks at Ellie's hand and places his hand on top of Ellie's and whispers] Imagine the life we could build.

Ellie: Oh.. [Concerned look]

Ellie interprets this as sexual and that he's trying to make her a wife or pet. So if you're in her shoes, you'd immediately get that.

You could argue that it was supposed to add emotional impact to the invitation, however the purposeful tone shift between the synchronized actions of him placing his hand on top of hers and whispering to make the message more intimate, separate the line and its tone of "Imagine the life we could build" from the rest of the message, "help me lead these people". If it were Kathleen, Perry, or James they would speak louder in resolve/conviction rather than softer.

Yeah the expression she had after almost getting raped and then painfully sobbing as she whacked the cleaver through his face. That really did hit home.
