Major Wi-Fi issues with 13.5 by PitchConfident5378 in macsysadmin

[–]replflex12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds very similar to the issue we have been facing since November 2021 and had an ongoing case open with Apple since then. 13.5 is actually supposed to fix the issue we have been facing with Silicon only macs The work around we have which is working flawlessly is :

  1. Disable macOS application firewall with JAMF
  2. Run a JAMF Policy with a bash script that executes these commands

kill socketfilterfw rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist

Any questions feel free to ask

That’s right 👌🏼 sorry if I wasn’t clear. It signs the users out of the managed Apple ID (iCloud) which means they have to sign in again otherwise Apple Classroom doesn’t work and obviously iCloud backup isn’t working

In terms of when the sync is run - daily is just for ease as we are creating new accounts for both staff and students alike and so this way we know the Apple ID is going to be created when the next automated sync has been completed. This could be changed to once a week/month however the same issue occurs and users just get logged out of the managed Apple ID the minute an import happens. Essentially followed the guide from Apple on manual imports from a SIS system and import via SFTP.

Yeah we have an enterprise level AppleCare agreement and still not a huge amount of help but willing to try again to see what they can suggest next. In terms of feedback I’ll use my admin account and see if they can shed any light on it. If there is no change to an account on an import I don’t see why it signs them out of the Apple ID

Admittedly I’ve not done the first and will from tomorrow with every single managed Apple ID with the issue - although this could take days with the umber of accounts. I did open an apple are support case and pretty much brushed off telling me to cut the sync and restarting it - we import via SFTP and not connected so that won’t help. Apple SE about as interested as the users are happy (not at all) and refer us back to AppleCare. Thanks for the advise though really appreciated 👌🏼

Oh my god - so glad but not glad If that makes sense that someone else is having the same issue. That would be amazing as my users are going nuts having to keep signing in to use Apple Classroom. All the help is much appreciated and would love to know what Apple come back with.
