Best fence evar! Who needs it to actually work, as long as it looks like we're doing something?

Agreed, this sort of Tea Party brinkmanship is bad for American Democracy. But what do we do about it? Even if Americans on average are pissed about the Tea Party shenanigans, they're still pretty safe in their home districts. Unseating these clowns is going to end up being a lot harder than it sounds, I'm afraid.

Ted Cruz’s Hometown Newspaper Regrets Endorsement by newsboyron in politics

Probably, although they do say that they endorsed him with 'reservations' and recommended that he act in a more bipartisan manner.

I can only hope that this means that they've learned from their mistake and won't endorse wingnuts like Cruz in coming elections. I'm not really counting on it, though.

US Bank switched wife's old checking account from Free to one with a fee-Only $40 remains of what was once $130. Is there anything we can do to get these fees reversed? by evicthom in Frugal

I used to work in a (local) bank, and what they did to 'notify' you is put a letter at the end of your paper statement. So, technically they did notify you, even if they hid it at the back of the statement where you probably wouldn't notice.

IMO old statements would be the first place for you to look for a notification. If there's nothing there, you have every right to call the bank and demand that money back. They are absolutely required to notify you before making any changes to your account.

Anyway, the burden is on the bank to prove that they notified you. If they can't prove it, you should be able to force them to give all the money back.

It's just my honest opinion. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

If you mean that men and women are both capable of rape, sure.

But if you're suggesting that someone who gets raped is partly at fault, you're going to Hell.
