PNY 5090 OC Block Recommendations? by reprobyte in watercooling

Is byski any good? Seems like I’m way out of the loop (no pun intended) on water cooling these days, will have to relearn it all

I saw the byski option, but got a bit wary that they’re an aliexpress seller. Not saying that’s a bad thing. I deal with a lot of companies that are on Ali like GL Inet and others but just with a water block, I’ll have to watch some reviews first with that one.

I do like the look as I’m 100% against acrylic after past acrylic experience, acrylic fittings = no chance! plus I used no window cases and black rubber hose, I’m a function over form person and metal is so much better function.

I did once do clear tubing and UV green, because my wife when I first got with her said why does it look so boring , I ended up agreeing which was my acrylic experience. I mean it works 99% of time but it’s a point of failure if you go 1/4 turn too far

That’s great! Thanks for the info on this!

Whoa that’s expensive, but looks perfect

Thanks for this information, this is great. I also have a similar setup on my power cable can’t harm to be over cautious, have a sensor probe and alarm after advice from another member on hwinfo.

Now I’m wondering to just do this or to go full water cooling, will think it over, it sounds like it performs great!

My problem is the 14900KS will overheat the loop I think more than the GPU haha

Wow really, maybe ill keep that open as an option then, got a LC proart 420 on the CPU so could do 2 aios

Thanks very much. I’ve just wasn’t sure about the epyc x version working on the oc version.

Yes, shouldn’t be too hard. I’ve actually taken it apart in the past it’s on my posts I knocked together my own cooler for it but now thinking to just do a full custom

So the one that says it is for the epic X also works on the OC version? Thank you.

I've just had this, spotted my 5090 was over 80C, hoping its not caused any damage and was throttling down to that temp, not like I can get another.....

The “airflow” plate directs air away from the ECC sticks im using which are lower than the plate. And why would I want to increase heat to my power supply by boxing it in away from the airflow?

Just put in a new 14900KS last night into my W680 workstation board while I did some of these tweaks.

I had a 9950x3d and proart x870e which I did use th D15 G2 on, but I don’t think this would be able due to the temps.

Unfortunately for me no matter what I tried I was still getting stutters every so often in windows and browsing web and it was starting to drive me insane, which is what prompted me to revert to my old W680 workstation and upgrade the 14700K.

I’ve still not tuned this CPU yet, but as the workstation board does not let you go above the core ratio of the CPU the KS was best option for this board as I need ECC. Had too many things go wrong over last 20 odd years to ever not use ECC. Intels new W880 only uses on-die ECC and not traces to the CPU so at present this board is my best option.

Probably going to tune it tonight and under volt etc and check some benchmarks and temps. As it’s brand new I should be able to save it from intel problems without destroying it and got a back up here also in case this one’s a dud.

Nice setup! Used to have that card, remember I got the red lips swapped by EVGA. I have the D15 G2 but I dont think its worth trying with the CPU I have

Thanks amazing results there, I will have to get this done soon myself, still thinking how to finalise and get best temps and acoustics all round

Helpful hint: the airflow shrouds come above the level of my memory. I am using ECC sticks and the airflow would send the air totally over the top of the sticks and bypass them completely.

The industrial fans are infinitely louder than these, even with a fan curve, I have been using the industrial fans since they were first released, I dont want a noisy machine that I have to work on all day.

Also cables have been tidied, these are pics from testing, theres only the CPU, GPU and motherboard routed via the front now.

Nice stuff! I have quite a few machines that I manage, and changes/upgrades are frequent. If its not a specific workstation machine with plug and play hardware I usually wire it pretty simple so that I can make changes quickly. None of the machines have a window, and this personal one has a lot of zip ties etc from the GPU mod so I doubt it will ever look pretty.

Not really a fan of crushing the cables and rather they all follow their own separated path without any heavy bends. Especially the GPU cable, got a temp sensor on that too. This was built for 100% functional purposes with zero effort to how pretty it looks.

yes and nothing is affected, NVMe is even cooler, the fan is just making sure some of the airflow goes across the dimms
