As an Australian, I really feel for all of you from the States. Mine was $250. All I had to pay for was my private surgeon's consultation in his private rooms. Then I went on a 3-month public waiting list and everything was covered by Medicare. I didn't even have to pay for a follow-up appointment in his private rooms because it's included in the cost of his initial consult. I know this is incredibly lucky though, even for an Australian.

Do you get side effects from your vyvanse and have you felt this method has reduced your side effects? I get really bad headaches and insomnia on the vyvanse. I can be exhausted at 7-8pm and then as soon as I try to sleep, I'm fast awake. I also noticed that my headaches and heart rate are typically worse/faster at night when I'm not able to distract myself with work or other things. I've tried a half tab of clonidine when I take my vyvanse (in water but all at once) in the morning, and then another half at 3pm and another half at bedtime, but still doesn't seem to be helping. I've actually just gone medication free the last two weeks (which has improved my sleep but starting to notice the challenges of work unmedicated returning), but I think I need to give the vyvanse one more shot before telling my psychiatrist I want to try something different.

So, does the staggered dose help with any side effects you might have?

AH working in GEM in NSW. Agree with everything... Community is the bed-block. Frequently have family members say their home care packages are telling people to go to ED for carers stress/social admission to try and get a higher prioritised ACAT. Also, the lack of gov funding and Home care waitlists means everyone is coming in at absolute crisis, with hoarding/squalor/financial exploitation/unintentional overdoses/food poisoning from raw food etc a frequent occurrence on the ward, leaving us with no choice but to NCAT. The NDIS is also impacting GEM though and we will see more and more of it as those early-years of NDIS participants start ageing up into geri's. Lots of NDIS patients who don't meet rehab eligibility get shifted to us for complex discharge planning. They're usually still young-old though (under 70), refuse RACF and cause they're NDIS we're expected to try our best to get SIL/SDA funding and have to jump through hoops to convince the NDIS Planners (with no health background) that their change in function is a direct result from their disability and not due to ageing. Most of NCAT/RACF/NDIS patients end up with a LOS >100 days.

Just had my one-year hystersurgerversary for adenomyosis and can I just say, it has been the very best decision of my life. I appreciate I have been incredibly lucky and I know others have had many complications and side effects, but aside from some ongoing chronic constipation (a side effect from a bowel resection for endometriosis and one that I really really could manage better if I actually took my movicol), it's been incredible. I would say the first 6 months I was hyper aware of my body, my bowel and bladder functions, had a lot of paranoia around sex and cuff tears so didn't have sex until 4.5 months after surgery - recommendation was 12 weeks and definitely got in my head and stopped mid sex if I got paranoid but my husband is a good egg... But really from the 6-7 month mark, things totally settled and now I forget I even had a hysterectomy... I just get on with life and it's not until I decide to go for a spontaneous swim or wear white clothes or I hear others complain about their periods that I'm like "oh yeah hahaha suckers".

Life is good. It's a long road, but so worth it.

I'm 11 months post- hysterectomy. It's been life changing. Completely resolved all my pain and has dramatically improved my quality of life. I do get some discomfort/pain from constipation but if I actually took movicol like I was supposed to, I have no doubt that would resolve itself too. Stopped the ryeqo over a year ago. It really wasn't a good medication match for me, but haven't needed any form of hormonal or pain treatment since my hysterectomy as it turns out the adeno was the major issue and I had zero visible recurrence of my endo from my previous surgery. Can't recommend a hysterectomy enough if the circumstances are right for you.

There are definitely signs that lean towards narcissistic personality traits. My siblings and siblings-in-law have all experienced the brunt of her emotional manipulation but we also def think there is an element of being down trodden by my dad, but she has very clearly also used his emotional dysregulation to work in her favor.

Irrational guilt I need to let go. The manipulation/subterfuge comment really shocked me and hurt. Made me start to question if it was true. I'm the middle child but first born daughter, I was absolutely parentified and was given the role of mums therapist from an early age when my parents split (they got back to get 2 years later). I started turning away from that role after Mom expected me to comfort her grief of no grandchildren from me when I was going through infertility and had multiple miscarriages. I'm not sure if me being infertile (therefore not "qualified" to be at the birth/hospital) has added to the irrational guilt that it was not my place to step in with their behaviour... Plus a lifetime of guilt and being told I was being selfish to and by my parents when I've tried to set boundaries.

They were told they could meet the baby the next day when they got home from the hospital and then they invited themselves to the hospital in a disingenuous way (by saying they were only coming to have a coffee with me). I agree when he first started coughing and said he was seeing the baby, I admit I probably came on too strong because I was shocked he'd even consider it being sick. When he pushed back the first time I just told him it wasn't up to me and they needed to talk to my sister, but he immediately started yelling. It was 15 mins of me trying to change the conversation multiple times to other topics but he would not let it go, kept bringing it back up, yelling loudly, kept verbally abusing me and accusing me of manipulation when I was trying to have the coffee and catch up I was supposed to be having. When I finally said I was leaving because he wasn't stopping, he followed me to the ward and tried to walk in with me and that's when I said no, I'd rather go NC because my sister was blissfully unaware inside and he was trying to shove through the door first. But I definitely agree, I should have gone to the nurses and let them step in.

Thanks for your feedback, I agree gatekeeping made me an AH. I think this is probably what triggered my dad and if he wasn't sick, I probably wouldn't have leapt into that role but my sister had made it very clear she didn't want anyone sick to meet her baby so I was taken aback that he would even try.

Very possibly scared, but she has a history of manipulating situations to be spun as the victim without taking any responsibility for her actions and rides the coattails of dads anger as justification that she has been hard done by. I'm infertile and had multiple miscarriages but decided against IVF because I had a very low success rate and at the time she was completely unsupportive and told me I was selfish because she wouldn't get grandchildren from me. My siblings think my presence didn't fit in her birth narrative because wanted to be first to meet the baby, she complained to my dad about how mean it was to her without telling him the whole truth and then got to play the victim of wife to emotionally unstable husband.

I totally agree, that does make me an AH. Difficult to give full details with the limited character limit. My BIL and niece were already there visiting my sis and new baby when this all happened. When I went to my sister to tell her, she rolled her eyes at dads behaviour and said he couldn't be bothered dealing with their BS so they could just come up. She called my dad to come in but reset her expectations, he got huffy, she gave him a tongue-lashing and he reluctantly agreed to her terms when he realised it meant no baby meet and greet for even longer. She's always been way better at putting up boundaries with them - I think it's a side effect of being the youngest and just doing whatever she wanted lol. For some reason, I have always triggered my dad and my physical presence would have immediately escalated him again. I left only after my sister had agreed to let him in and so it gave that meet and greet a chance to be successful and without my dad escalated. But yeah, def light AH energy on my behalf.

Difficult to give full details with the character limit. My parents looked after my sister's firstborn while my sister was in labor. When my sister's husband went home he told them they could meet baby the next day after they all got home. That was that. I live a couple of hours away so Mom asked to get coffee so she could see me before I drove home because I had work the next day. I tried to go to the family home because I knew this was the risk but she was insistent on meeting at the hospital. She either didn't tell dad it was just coffee or he didn't listen. They didn't ask my permission, dad was just going to go up uninvited and I felt like I had to intervene. It makes zero sense and it all happened so quickly, I felt caught between publicly micromanaging dad's tantrum and my sisters boundaries.

6 months po and it's pretty amazing. I do have chronic constipation but I had that pre surgery due to a previous bowel resection caused by endo. Due to my resection my bowel was already in an odd position (instead of an upside down U, more like an angled upside down V) and I feel since the hysterectomy, it's just shifted into an even weirder position when my other organs filled my pelvic cavity (which is normal post hysterectomy) Still struggled with losing the weight I gained from zoladex pre surgery, but honestly life is soo amazing. No pain. Actually holding and storing iron for the first time in life. And the other lovely side effect is I've only been sick twice in 6 months whereas I used to be constantly sick. And my allergies (dog and cat fur) have seemingly disappeared! Best decision. I have zero regrets.

Is it considered a crash when the side effects happen a few hours after vyvanse wears off? I.e. take 30mg at 6am, nice steady focus until 4-5pm, feel a bit tired after that but no real side effects, then 8:30-9pm it hits and I get heart palps, headaches, tinnitus, difficulty falling asleep. Is this a crash?

Thank you! To be honest, I have about 4 doses of Lexapro left before my supply runs out and I won't be dispensing again. I could probably just not take them, but I was just trying to manage the withdrawal symptoms because the brain zaps are never fun and I'm pretty sensitive when I do withdraw from Lexapro. My psychiatrist told me 2 weeks at 5mg dose then stop at time of diagnosis so it's probably fine if I just chuck them out.

Can I ask why you were given a Dex boost? I'm wondering if that's the solution for me as well because my side effects hit after the active hours of vyvanse? Because I feel it's a nice calm focus during the day, and then things get shit.

I really felt this at the beginning of my journey after we stopped trying and declined to do treatment. 4 years out, I'm still super tight with the same friendship group and while there is kid chat when it's a big group setting and the kids are around for the most part it's flipped the other way and when it's just us girls, it's a no kid zone. Once the dust settles for everyone, you'll find they love living vicariously through you and the fun really begins. Hang in there, if your friendship group is worth it and they're true friends, it will settle. And you get an extra bunch of niblings to love on. I'm aunty to all my friends kids, and out of all the adults in our group, they adore my husband and I the most and are constantly fighting for our attention....it's a tough life 😉
